Hi everyone
Has anyone had to replace hydraulic lifters? I have a 2011 i30 crdi and I think my lifters are noisy. they make a tapping noise on low rev acceleration. I changed from full synthetic oil to a 15W40 semi synthetic oil and the noise is less noticeable which to me indicates faulty hydraulic lifters. Does anyone have similar problem? 150,000km

Nope, 210000k and sweet as. Sure it's the lash adjusters and not just the fact it's diesel engine?

I thought it was mandatory to use Fully synthetic oil in the Diesel? :undecided:

I'm sure everything is fine with your engine. You probably never drivem PSA 1.6 hdi in peugeot on cold and on hot also. Well thats a lifter knock and everything is normal.
15w40 in 2011 probably with DPF? Non c3 oil? Your mechanic must be crazy as rock

Fortunately no DPF over here in that model!

How noisy are they i.e. can you hear them with say radio on "normal" volume?

At first I was worried about the tapping noise from my i30 1.6 crdi 2011, this is the first diesel car I have ever had. With the petrol ones running quiet it took me a while to get used to the diesel one. I remember the older diesel vehicles in my youth clanking away. Mine has just Been fully serviced if anything wrong I would have been told about it. Just drive it and enjoy. My hooter now working peep peep.
