GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => GENERAL => Topic started by: melly on February 28, 2013, 11:46:24

So my neighbour just popped over to tell me she saw my car's interior light on and didn't want the battery to go flat.
I went out to see what door I had left open but they were all shut tight.
The thing is its ALWAYS been set to "door" I have never changed it. I know sometimes you can bump it or accidentally set it off, so I climbed in and look at the light but it was set to door.
I then went around and opened and closed every single door, yet the light stays on? even on the dashboard it also shows when a door is open and none of them are, yet the light stays on.
wtf is going on? I did just get it repaired from an accident surely its not something in the electricals going???

Did you check the Hatch Melly?
-
Can you confirm that the light is on but the dash display is not lit at all ie no blue glow in the dash.
-
Sit in the drivers seat, all doors closed, put the key in and turn to ignition point then back off and withdraw the key.
Does the light then dim out after a short while?
-
I have checked the hatch and its definitely shut as well.
and yes there is no blue light on the dash at all, yet the interior is on.
Shambles, I will have to go and check that. I need to drop some things off at a friends house soon so I was going to be back out to drive it soon anyway.

No blue screen means that no switches are in use, so either Shamble's suggestion will work or you should remove the globe overnight, CAREFUL, IT WILL BE HOT ! :scared:
Good luck
-
Or try switching it to off
-
yea turning it to off works okay for now but inconvenient. hahaha dont worry I already just touched the plastic covering of the light trying to hit the switch OWWWIE !!
:snigger:
-
I suspect the hatch just needs adjusting..... :)
It might be closed but it's probably not pulled in hard enough to deactivate the light switch.
Simple way to check is to push hard on the hatch and see if the light then goes off.... :undecided:
-
If doing what I suggested cures the problem then I'm guessing it was the BCM that was a bit pissed.
If what I suggested does not cure the problem then I'm guessing the BCM is still a bit pissed but a battery disconnect/reconnect may work.

shambles, when I do what you said it does "fade off" and while It was on and driving the light is off and people opened and shut the door and it went off. But then I got back home, turned the car off shut the doors and it stayed on.
the problem is I'm 90% sure it wasn't doing this before today. We went to the movies last night and walked back to the car late, if it was doing this I would have noticed for sure going back to the car in the dark (the light has definitely been on door this whole time).

What happens when you lock the car?
With mine the light dims and goes out.
Does it go off now?
-
So, it behaves normally when someone's sitting in the drivers seat, but stays lit when you leave the car.
Hmm... time to scratch my beard, if I had one.
-
Could always leave someone in the car :whistler:
-
Or try switching it to off
Why didn't I think of that :-[ :Pout:
