GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => PETROL => Topic started by: elantraelite on March 23, 2018, 10:20:22

Just wondering what is the general concesis about the quality of the rear view camera?
Compared to our Santa Fe the quality is horrendous.
I read a review today on Car Advice where they mentioned the picture quality of the reversing camera was crystal clear... Either he is wearing milk bottles or Hyundai fixed the issue...
Want to see if this has been fixed,if so I'll have to mention it at the next service.

I ran my Ioniq for 2 months before I realised the view was being distorted by a protective plastic film cover on the lens
Might be worth checking yours... my camera (and that of the GD before) is crystal clear.
-
Thanks!
I just had a look and there definitely isn't a protective cover on the lens.
Our i30 was built in June 17 so it might be an issue with earlier models, that were later fixed up?
I remember Dazzling commenting on the camera quality as well... We would both have cars made around the same time.
I'll take a photo of the picture and on the screen and let you be the judge.
Compared to our Santa Fe the quality is rather poor.. much lower resolution.

I own a PD I30 and didn't have an issue with the quality of the reversing camera, that is until I had a few days driving the New Kona, now that is a great camera really puts mine to shame!

yeah, these small issues are the reason I never buy a series 1 car

Agree, but have to say it's been flewless otherwise. I know a few people on the forum have had some more pressing issues with their PD, so far so good for us after 10,000km with the DCT auto. Quite impressed with the transmission

That makes me think that there is still an issue with it. Our Santa Fe has excellent clarity compared to the PD, it's ok, but when your comparing it to a previous gen Santa Fe to a new gen i30, there should be an improvement.
Our GD i30 had a great quality camera

Can confirm that the PD Elite also has rubbish camera. It is usable but that's it.

This bloke must be smoking something then!

:link: NanoCam Plus Mirror Mounted Reversing Camera System - Supercheap Auto (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/NanoCam-Plus-Mirror-Mounted-Reversing-Camera-System/425061?menuFrom=1021688) at half its normal price has been a great investment for me. I like keeping my head up and seeing the other mirrors and my surroundings while using it. :victory:

i find the pd reversing camera average with poor resolution and finding more often i dont tend to use it but side & rear mirrors instead.
I changed reversing bulbs to LEDs which helped a lot at night. my previous veloster had much better quality image
-
I actually reckon the camera is pretty good, defo better than my old 2015 Mazda 3.
-
The guy from Car Advice is going to do a video of how good the quality is on their test car... Let's see
All of us mentioning the poor quality may be asking Hyundai to replace our cameras

I'm happy enough with the quality during the day, but had to do the same as crusty and upgrade the reverse light globes to LED, otherwise uneable at night. Still not good in low light. :crazy1:

The quality is terrible. Moral of the story is don't spend your life driving backwards.

Makes you wonder why THEY would go backwards in that regard. :crazy1:
