The last seven tanks of diesel have given me the following results:

1078.7 kms
1063.6 kms
1010.3 kms
1053.3 kms
1047.2 kms
1022.4 kms
1008.8 kms

I think my engine might be run in now.  :whistler:

And I've attached my latest fuel docket - almost squeezed 60 litres in.  :)

Although reading Alan's thread, maybe I'm not getting this at all?  :undecided: Maybe it's all an illusion and my true fuel economy is 14.3 litres per hundred or something  :scared:

59l your not even trying  :P

The closest I got to 1000k was the Syd/Melb trip where I got to 997 from memory, but I'm in an auto CW.

Unfortunately my desire to get to work sees me sitting closer to 120 than 100 which takes its toll on economy.

That's still pretty impressive for an auto cw though.  :goodjob2:

Not even getting close to that, am getting 6.2 about 850k to the tank, and that is brimming it, 160k a day, 140km on freeway at 110kmh and 20km on free flowing arterial roads at 70kmh. GD Prem auto, I was wondering if the weight is different because of the extra's like the glass roof. the auto does not kick into 6th till over 70kmh, is this "normal"????
Cheers

I think manual vs auto is the biggest factor. Distance to empty indicates that with suburban driving for me I routinely get over 1000km, and a few tanks would have gotten me over 1100 km. Average speed tank to tank is about 37km/h. Longest I've left it to fill though is 950km.

Does anyone know is the DTE accurate or optimistic?

In 18000 km, I still haven't taken it on a proper freeway run so am uncertain how much better it could get. It's not the family car so on our car holidays we've always taken the other car.

Well, our 4sp auto gives 5.5-5.8 pretty consistantly, so there's still room for improvement with the 6 sp trans I'd say.

Sort of on topic.  In hilly Tasmania I am getting 5.3 l/100km averaging 130km a day and 70km/h.

That's pretty good especially as it has been a cold wet winter (might improve a tad coming into summer)

I used to average 5.4 in our old CRDi  :(

They do take a while to bed in (for some members*).. Give it another 5K at least  :winker:

* Our previous Manual CRDi was about the same (5.4LPH average) for the full 68K we had her..

We're coming up 30k so yours should get better. Try not to go over 3k revs. Treat the throttle like an egg shell. The most economical speed for a car is about 80kph, 110kph increases fuel by 20% IIRC, but you do need to be realistic on freeways.

When driving down to Tassie from Queensland I was getting 4.9 doing 100km/h, and when I changed to 110km/h it went up to 5.3.  Drag increases exponentially with speed.

Probably the same reason I got 6.1 in the Hybrid on the Mainland and 6.3 to 6.6 down here  :'(

Of course, there is no better way to keep your legs warm in the cold and dense Tassie air than a nice pair of stockings.  The suspenders were a personal choice.
