  • 2019 PD2 Go Petrol, Manual. 30,000 kms.
I picked up a copy of the latest "Ecocar" magazine today and there is an article in there about the i20 which gets a really good review. And they said to expect Hyundai to fast-track a diesel into the line-up following the initial introduction.
Also a comparison between the Ford Focus, Holden Cruz, VW Golf & Hyundai i30, all diesel auto.
The i30 got a really good write-up and to summarise their conclusion:
"I particularly liked the fact that I didn't need to reach for the manual to operate any of the gadgets. From the moment I got in the car I found I could operate everything from the radio to the cruise control, while it took several hours of fiddling with the other makes to get everything to work. It could be an age thing, but I actually found the Hyundai the best all-round car, at least on the day."
Gotta be happy with that!

Thanks Dave.. I am a bit embarrassed as I have had that issue for a week or so and forgot to mention the article  :-[

I did think about scanning it in and posting it that way but then thought that might be a bit cheeky and promptly forgot all about it...

I did find a list of the top 10 car sales for May in Australia which I must scan in and post in the next day or so...(i30 was 7th in May)

I do like the sound of the Jaguar XF diesel twin turbo that they feature in Ecocar too. It meets the fuel economy criteria etc but I don't think they'll straight-swap my i30 for one. :'(

The magazine really opens your eyes to the number of eco cars now on the market (if you have plenty of money)

Pity they can't make a Mazda RX8 that does 6ltrs PHK...

I driven the i20 1.2 petrol model.

They do a 1.4 petrol but the increase in bhp/kw is marginal I'm told not such a good buy.

The 1.2 to me, lacked the pull when doing a steady 40/50/60 mph and wanting to accelerate, without having to go down the gears to 4th.

I've asked if they will be doing a 1.6 petrol or 1.6 crdi.
Not sure was the reply.

i20 is available here in the UK with a 1.4 litre version of the U2 CRDi.

I'm almost certain that means it comes with the 6 speed box too, but the official website says 5.

They mentioned this to me but I was interested in the same sized engine as in my i30 i.e. 1.6 crdi 115ps,

The 1.4 they offer in the i20 is available in 75ps and 90ps only.

It is going to be 98% the same engine though.

I would be interested in the 90 ps but didn't have 1 to test drive.

Wouldn't expect then just to get 1 on a whim by me and then after a drive decide not to buy.
