Time for a new watch I figured, so I searched and found the one I wanted online. Thought I'd take a risk and buy without the protection of PayPal and as usual, I made a bad decision.
The watch arrived but is faulty in 1 minor, but annoying aspect. So I contacted the Chinese company and complained. After 6 emails to explain the problem, + 2 pictures to prove my claim, they insisted that I pay the shipping fee for another watch. Their exchange policy clearly states, when the watch is faulty that they will pay shipping.
Having little recourse, they have ceased communicating with me as I indicated that I will not pay any shipping.
The only satisfaction I can get is to inform and potential customers to not use this company at all.
The site is :link: Cheap Fashion Replica Watches|Fake Watches|Cheap Watches Online Sale (http://www.ppreplica.net/)
If only I'd used PayPal to pay, it would have been a simple matter to obtain a refund. You live and learn, I guess. :(
It's all Gonz's fault, too. :D

My appearance in the paper today was meant to warn you. How is it my fault? :P

Breitling watch from AFG for $20.
Started me thinking, mine was dearer, coz I'm not going there, to save $. I bought a Rolex, always wanted one.

One place not to buy from.
Word of mouth is the best form of advertising.
Thanks for sharing. :goodjob:
I'm in the middle of a dispute too (not again.....) but I won't be posting anything until the fat lady has finished her song.

I used my special credit card form the post office, which is only loaded with $ when I buy something, otherwise $5.00 in it.

Phil, they sell Rolex watches for $64? and you thought they would be a decent and honest <sigh> c'mon Phil gerra grip

Luckily it's just a small amount of cash and a bit of hurt pride

Ah, yes. I'll wear it especially for you next month at the Show again this year.

Well, you must have paid using the wrong currency.

I just went to look at the watch website and my WOT (Web of Trust) software flagged up a red warning about it being untrustworthy. They must be right.

Use cc then claim against cc company......
I'll look into that. The whole business is a bit of a joke, but I am annoyed that they use distance to escape their responsibility.
-
What is the minor fault Phil? Doesn't the time part work?
I am a bit peeved too at the moment.. Doing some updating of our house.. Changed a few lights around and ordered 2 x wall pendants from our usual local light shop. Unlike me not to ask the price first... $230 bucks for 2! (I did a search online and sell for as little as $75 each... )
When we go to pick them up I'll try and negotiate a discount!
-
Cancel the order, Dazz.
Regarding the watch, you're nearly correct. I bought 1 with an extra hand that reads against an outer bezel to give a 2nd time zone. This was to be set to UT, so I can keep track of our Euro cousins. It is supposed to make 1 rev / 24 hours, but instead it makes 2. Nothing I try enables it to be set. I AM going to pursue the disputed transaction though, already down loaded the form. I'm quite happy with the rest of it though. It looks good & costs about $4k if it were real. Waiting to see who is 1st to notice, then I'll have some fun with them.
@Gonz, Likewise. :D
-
I'll try and negotiate first... I know them pretty well (They know I have just retired.. they must think I'm loaded)

 Good luck.

That looks like it has ebola

Ebola, :undecided:

That's unfortunate, Phil. It looks like a very nice watch (well, I like the look of it, if that makes sense). That style of watch is one that I am attracted to. I hope that you get a satisfactory outcome from it.
How about going to Thailand or Dubai or China to get a copy watch? You get a holiday in as well!! Much safer than Bali (or Elizabeth). BTW, the SmartTraveller website lists Indonesia and Thailand as "Exercise a high degree of caution", China and Dubai are "Exercise normal safety precautions". I personally wouldn't travel to Bali, but I would go to Thailand. Maybe Gonz can get you a watch from Indonesia if you can wait 18 months?
-
KL Malaysia has always been my preferred destination for cheap buying, Vietnam as well although not as cheap as Bali but it's safer.

I'm not THAT disappointed, it just conflicts with my slight OCD about things, but I'm learning to cope with it. I wear it each day. I have a Casio solar, tide watch and a Citizen solar (my official good one, it's very accurate), so no shortage of watches to wear.
OS holidays are not an option for me.
-
I'm hearing you about the OCD thing. It disappointing when things don't work the way they advertised.
I like watches too. I have my G-shock work watch, a Tag copy (from Dubai), a G-shock everyday digital watch, and a "company" watch from one of our clients. Also have a Breitling copy somewhere as well (dates go to 39th of the month).

I've put the Visa claim in, interesting to see what happens next. :whistler:

In uk i think they have upto 30 days to resolve but in the meantime you should ask for the interest to be stopped on that payment and they should also agree you should not pay that element of your balance when you next pay the cc bill until resolved, refund or it stands..
Keep us informed.....
-
Doesn't work that way. It's effectively a debit card, the payment comes from a balance held by Visa until I decide to spend it. I only have this card, to allow payments to non PayPal vendors.

Sorry - it just looks kind of "ill" to me.

Correct, at the time, it was a return requirement. Gone now. :)

Called a pre-paid card in the UK.. Load with a fixed amount - spend as required - top up as necessary?
I've just bought two LED 881 bulbs for the i30 fog lights from a Chinese on line company. Turns out the LED section is too big to go through the reflector hole.
Used their message system to reject and they tried to palm me off with a 4USD voucher and return of the bulbs for a 10USD purchase.
Refused and insisted on full refund with 15USD to be added for returning the bulbs.
They then reply asking what exactly do I want them to do........??????????????????
I replied.. Stop delaying and refund now
They now say they will refund in 3 - 4 days watch your bank account. Hopefully they will but as it is on a credit card used only for on line purchases I will threaten to get a refund from the bank if they don't cough up..
-
Back in '95 I bought several watches in Bali (& Hong Kong). They all lasted a few years.....
Never knew that Bali is such a dangerous place nowadays (good posting Phil).
I won't be returning
Thanks for the heads up :)

I don't see the point in these fake Rolex watches.
If you obviously ain't stinkin' rich then people will assume it is a fake and you'll be branded as a vain show-off and probably untrustworthy. :D
I mainly use a £100 Seiko which I've had for nearly 15 years now, does the job and looks fine - but not in a showy way. :)
-
I have a £1.99 watch and keeps time.
only problem was i had to buy a new batteery and cost me £4.99!

Going by the Replica Watches by James review :link: Replica Watches: Rolex, Breitling, Omega Replica Watch Reviews (http://www.watchesbyjames.cn/) this is his top recommended Replica site :link: Replica Watches: Rolex, Breitling, Omega, Cartier Replica Watches (http://www.iparadisiac.co/)
Good information on the James website going into detail about top quality replicas and the cheap fake knockoff's.
-
Starting to get expensive though.
-
I've got a really cheap watch without a battery and it's right twice a day.
-
Starting to get expensive though.
More expensive than a cheap copy... yes! but 1000's cheaper than the originals :winker: the average there is around $150-$335 for Japanese movements ( battery and Kinetic ) and around $600 for some of the Swiss movements but their quality is outstanding and would take an expert to know the difference.
I ordered a Patek Philippe Grand Complications from there for $225, a real one would set me back $220,000 :faint:
-
I'm lost for words, didn't know thee was a watch that expensive.
-
I'm lost for words, didn't know thee was a watch that expensive.
That price is without flashy jewels/diamonds, I've seen Patek's up to $450,000, there are a few other brands that are as grossly overpriced as well.
-
Why do they cost so much
-
The name mostly it's their pedigree, then you have the craftsmanship and quality of components used.

You could buy a new Casio every day for the rest of your life and still be in front. :whistler:
-
Or a different Hyundai for every day of the week :D
-
I do recall the owner of the Rolex company being asked how the time business was going, to which he replied that he wouldn't know.
He said, "If you want to know the time you can buy a Timex for ten bucks. I'm in the luxury business."
-
I'd watch out if I was you, Phil. :happydance: :happydance:

Time will tell.

Hey, hang on a second.

Careful, time slips away on a cheap watchband.

This discussion is going around in circles and the replies are like clockwork which is starting to tick me off :D did I squeeze enough into one sentence :snigger:

Let's face it, I have to hand it to you for posting comments time and time again. Even though this is the second time I've told you to stop you continue to tick me off by going into minute detail. I'm going cuckoo!!!

Looks like this topic finally timed out! or was it kinetic and wound down due to lack of activity
-
Nope!....I didn't hear the cuckoo for a time out....fair bump........tick on........
-
No,just not enough hours in the day.
-
So, do we now know how dodgy a cheap watch is?
-
No, but I know how cheap a watch doggie is, if that's any help.
-
Fake watch convention at the Royal Adelaide Show. I'll put my genuine Breitling away and wear the fakey alongside Phil. All welcome! :victory:
-
All it needs is a flick of the wrist and we're away again
-
Careful, Phil. With your cheap watch the band might break. :whistler:

It's lasted 2 weeks

And then it broke? :undecided:

I'll let you know when it does.

Mine broke this morning. Some piece if wire now sticking out, chuck in bin I guess.

That sux Phil :disapp: If you decide to get another I highly recommend who I bought mine through, the quality is excellent with email updates all the way through the delivery, I'm pleased with their attention to details which all the reviews had mentioned.

Yours looks great, but then it IS quite new. Let's see if yours lasts more than 2 weeks. :goodjob2:

Depends on if I have to give a hand :whistler:

Don't be alarmed, I'm sure your timing was spot on. Perhaps there was a band where you dined, as well. :D
And dessert, did you come back for seconds

To much, I had to clock out.

I don't have time for this.

So lets wind this up then......... :snigger:
-
So no fakey convention this week, Phil? :blubber:
-
It may be beyond repair, but I'll have a look tomorrow. Looks like the spring wire for the rotating bezel. :fum:

OK.
The clock starts........NOW.

Thought I'd update you that my watch is still working well a month later, is yours still running after that repair you performed?
-
Yes it is, but I only wear it when I want to impress a
wom person. :whistler:
-
You must have a done a good job with it then :goodjob:
I wear mine on an almost daily basis which helps to keep running as it's an automatic and wearing this one keeps the legitimate nice watches safely stored away in their boxes and only worn on special days :)
-
Mine is automatic, too.
-
That's the only problem with automatics is the re-setting of the dials when you want to wear them again, still rather that than replacing batteries though :)
I looked up the cost of a motion active auto winder as I have a few auto's now but the winder cost more than all the watches put together

You're weeks late and a dollar short :whistler: Phil fixed his watch :)
-
Actually, not exactly. The display, which was my original complaint can not be fixed. The rotating bezel problem, I managed to fix.
-
Sorry Phil I didn't recall you mentioning the display had an issue as well :disapp:
-
It has a 2nd hour hand which should use the bezel hours to maintain a 2nd time zone, except it's fixed to the existing hour hand and can not be moved. It's unfit for the purpose and I complained to my credit card provider, never got a response from them. ( Heritage Bank) :fum:
Kiss that money goodbye.

Isn't that the time it will always show..
They are quite good quality, gram for gram replica of the real watch and the Japanese movement optioned watches use the same Miyolta movement that's in Seikos and Citizen, the more expensive versions are swiss movements and all versions use Sapphire crystal and crocodile leather bands ( if not a steel band ), took my first watch into Smales in Perth and they were astounded at the quality and couldn't tell the difference without opening it up :)

Well, I'll be ok with my Rolex, then. :whistler:
-
here in aus, i've found most millionaires dress like bums, and most bums try and dress like millionaires.
but quite often you can catch out the real money makers by the luxury watch, even if they're wearing wife beaters and stubbies.
-
"wife beaters and stubbies" haven't heard that for ages :D does anyone still wear stubbies these days :undecided: I prefer my boardies
I like wearing the replicas for my usual day to day stuff and keep my legitimate nice watches for occasions like restaurants.
-
Restaurant for me tonight, celebrating a mate's 60th. Bottle of Courvoisier, (because he likes it), as a present.
