is there a way to reset the radio in my motor vehicle as for some reason the radio no longer fancies allowing me to listen to my music via usb stick, when it did before. this is the 2nd stick it doesnt fancy wen all was fine for months.  i have tried re-loading and formatting the stick too in both fat32 or ntsc blah blah's.  zzzz boring tech rubbish.

HELP MEEEEE!!!

They say not to start the car with the USB stick in but don't know of anyone who has had one damaged by doing this...

Are both the sticks the same brand? So your PC still acknowledges the Stick? A bit of  a mystery

I guess Lester's suggestion is worth a try but if it works with another USB stick then I doubt it is the Stereo  :disapp:

Hope we can help you sort it  :winker:

Our car lives with USB in all the time, no probs yet. Test the stick in a pc, I assume it works as you've formatted it ok. Load with sample music & get ity to play through the pc. Is the stick a reputable brand, or a cheap "flashed memory" stick. When it stopped working, had you recently added any files at all

got 2 sticks, one is 8mb the other is 32. both still work in computers for any file types, yet wont be read in the car. my phone charges through the usb and can also sync for music play and that still works to play music. its like the stereo all of a sudden has double standards

Not sure if this would create more problems than you already have, but how about removing the fuse for the radio overnight. Maybe a power down then power up may reset a stored value somewhere. Failing that, off to the service department.

Usually, only systems with a screen to play video can read DVD's. What's wrong with the service dept, are they that bad

Yike, that's unfortunate, the service department are the ones to conduct servicing & major repairs in the future. Hope you haven't burnt too many bridges.  :(

never burn the bridges, ever, but i dont like dealing with them if there's a way around it. when things have to go that way tho then thats it. i prefer to run it past the veritable banquet of knowledge found in these here pages often

they have a butt head process. u must drive urself insane talking to butt heads to make sure you are worthy of then talking to the butt head leader, who in turn cannot speak to u in terms te layperson can understand. why are you calling normal parts of a car doohickies and thigamybobs when im coming to you for repair questions?! if i knew what they were I@D FIX IT MY F***ING SELF!!!

How many mp3's are you putting onto your memory stick? I know that my old mp3 player would only recognize about a hundred songs in any one folder before refusing to work so if you have more than that on it try putting them into separate folder of say 80 songs each and try again. Having said that I have about 800 in one folder and it works fine in my car.

That should work fine, is there any preinstalled security file software on it. It may need to be removed. Our music is simply divided into His/Hers folders on 16 gb & no worries. Toshiba from H Norman.

R U  using a cable or in direct. The metal on the usb surrounding the pins is usually pretty flimsy. Try GENTLY pressing in the middle of the silver bit if it feels loose at all in the car connector, not too much or it won't go in at all.

straight in, its weird though cause all my old usb sticks still work in the i30, just not this one?

might try using a extension cable, wonder if its metal case on the usb stick is interfearing with it?
