As my 4 year old i30 is worth only scrap metal value, apparently, I am toying with the idea of replacing the original radio/cd and the after-market GPS with a combined unit that incorporates ApplePlay.
As a starting point, I called into a car audio place in Perth yesterday and was quoted $2000 for Alpine gear (no speakers).
So now I need to shop around and bring the price way down.
They quoted $325 for a new surround and interface (to allow the steering wheel controls to be used), $1299 for the unit and $400 for reverse camera & installation.
I'm sure I'll be able to do much better.
A Hyundai dealer contacted me a while ago to tell me I'd be amazed at their trade-in offer.
I was.
$1500-$2500.
4 year old GD crdi manual with 200k.
So I might as well keep it and give it a present or two.

I've always liked Pioneer gear from back in the '70s.
That model doesn't appear to have built-in GPS though.
Then there's the interface.
I think mine might be a 6.1"

I might end up doing the same with the Calais, just keep it and give it the odd treat.  :goodjob:

That's a little bit dearer than the Alpine one I looked at but as I said, I do like Pioneer.
I'll do some more research and see what I can find. Thanks Craig.

I've always preferred Pioneer as well, they get the better reviews and win all the comps, if you need a new surround there's an Aussie seller with them now :link: 'DoubleDin Radio Fascia For Hyundai i30 Stereo Surround 2DIN Fitting Adapter Kit

That looks more betterer.   :goodjob2:
I wonder of .1 of an inch makes much difference when it comes to fitting?   :undecided:

A good car audio specialist shouldn't have an issue, shame my old mates still don't own Cables Car Stereo in Fremantle, those guys were artists and could make anything fit and mostly designed there own stuff.

I think one that was linked to has had $180 price reduction.  :goodjob:

Although the other link has a bonus camera (which might make it better value)?
