Well I figured as I'm bored It would be good to see how our members came across the clubs website.

I am a member of hyundai-forums.com (no longer active though), along with several others here, and it was in there that I learned about the plans to start an independent website.

From memory there was a news article/review on the i30 with a bunch of comments - someone posted a link on there which pointed at this forum (or one which spun off into this forum).

Yeah...much the same as you Shambles. I originally used to kick around a bit on a site known as Caradvice.com.Au. I still check in there occasionally. Its not a bad site. An article would be posted about a latest release or road review, than members could comment on it. It was good fun as some heated discussion would always arise between Holden and Ford nuts. Than you had your die hard Toyota fans who ere blinded by the T badge, as they all seem to be. Most of the member would rubbish anything Hyundai which would erk me. Sometime around than, a couple of the members, i30 Dave and Dazz I think, directed me to the Hyundai Forums than coaxed me over to the newly formed  i30 owners club.
Now I waste far to much of my precious time posting sh-t.
Only Joking. Love this site :D

Well, it was because of your and Dazza's and Thumper's comments on that car-advice place that got me interested in this car, and subsequent idea-throwing about making this site that led me to look it up, and here I am. It's funny because I read your comments as if you were making them right then and there, and felt part of the conversation, and then I visit this site and realise it's been up 6-12 months already and that that conversation had occurred months beforehand. Trippy.

You are right Rubix, The site has come long way pretty quick.
But its by no means been easy, Dazz and i30 Dave set the seed for this site some time ago than set about ruthlessly recruiting from the Hyundai forums, car-advice.com and from other sites. I dont know if they have started going door to door yet. Who knows to what lowes they will go to to find fresh new recuits for thier beloved club

I actually started out in search of i30 reviews. I really wanted the car and had to convince 'her' too and because everyone else around was 'No Hyundai'. Then I cam upon hyundaiforums site that shambles was talking about. I think (not so sure) that it was i30 dave and dazz were having a conversation of beginning a new forum. Thats when I stepped on this site.

I says to myself, I says "if I want to know more about this car, who should I ask?" and so I responds to myself, I responds "i30 owners of course".

And so I says to myself, I says "where do I FIND these i30 owners, where does I finds dem?" and so I replies to myself, I says "at the i30 owners club, of course."

And so I just guessed the URL.

Took me so much longer to find out more about the Focus, Lancer Sportsback, Camry and Astra though...

I actually typed in "i30 issues" into Google to see if there were any serious problems with the car, and for some reason, with no correlation with an "issue" as such, and hence, I found this forum!

Similar here.. I had a Hyundai Accent 07 before, so I was checking that forum. I liked i30 from the day it came out, so I started checking "i30 websites" and found this one and I can only say it's great. When I bought one, I had to write something here..

Oh..I missed the part, where Shambles mentions, that he started an independent website.. Em..there are no similarities regarding that part :D I did no such thing
