Hello dear hyundai owners.

I feel like our i30 could use a little makeover engine-wise.

Does Any of you have good suggestions for making the car happy  :P

I wish for a bit better acceleration, and got told that airfilter has a big role.

Any other things for helping that?

Feel free to write  :whistler:

Thank you  :)

Gubbi05, replacing the air filter alone with a K&N type does help get a better flow into the engine but would be barely noticeable on it's own, I think the FD had a better standard intake setup so it may be possible to get slightly better results than doing the same with a GD.

The most notable differences would be felt with an exhaust upgrade though the cost of upgrading the exhaust could be costly depending on how much you wish to change...simplest change would be to replace the standard catalytic converter to a Euro 4 type which will give better flow without affecting 02 sensor readings and replace the rear muffler with a straight through design, you would feel quite a difference in the low down torque just by changing those two items on the exhaust...you could also just do the straight through muffler on it's own and see what you think.

If you want it to be lively, drive it like it's stolen. If you always drive nice it will, more or less, clog up.

:whsaid: Although it might be a bit late (with a 9 y/o car) to make much difference now, and risky to drive it hard with aging components.

After the initial 1000 or so kilometres I have tended to drive my cars quite enthusiastically and they have invariably responded by performing above expectations.  :D

It's never too late, Dazz.
When we were young a mate of mine got his Grandad's 15 y/o Mazda. It couldn't do more than 140 km/h. After 3month ownership and no mods, it could do 170.  :whistler:

Unfortunately,  I've seen other situations where an older car has been going beautifully when sold, but only lasted a few months before being blown up by a younger more "enthusiastic " owner...
