Changed both last night after dinner and my rattles have gone!
Take any "how to" pics, or any pics of the worn ones? Shame on you :P

Great news that it's sorted. Quite cheaply too by the sound of it. I'm guessing you bought them off eBay seller "eemotorspares".

Steve its so easy I dont think anyone who fancies trying to do it would need a "how to".

Yes I think you are right about the e-bay seller seems to ring a bell, if anyone would like a talk througfh replacement let me know and I'll gladly do a blow by blow resume.  :goodjob:

Time to get mine inspected I think, though I'm not sure whether the problem is at the rear or front. Sure sounds like something's loose in my boot, but the clunking sound travels all along the nearside when driving slowly.

Can you tell just by looking underneath which drop links need replacing? Are they under pressure while resting or can I grab them and shake to test the wear? It's dark and damp here so no chance of looking tonight. I'm guessing the rear drop links look the same as the front drop links...?

Rear ones are shorter Steve. Yes that are under stress mounted and no you can't easily inspect / test. I will say tho that the slightest slack in either end results in noise you really wouldn't expect from such little movement. I'd say, on reflection, buy OEM as I think my non-OEM ones were on the way out when I traded her in after not much time or many miles really, they were cheap tho at £11.00 a pair!

Thanks Keith. I guess using a trolley jack under the chassis isn't going to relieve the stress to make removal easier.

Yes it will. As soon as the Wheel is off the ground you can change the drop links. You propably won't be able to feel the slack in the drop links before removed from the car.

I was convinced it was from the rear Steve... But it wasn't.

Same when the drop-links went on my Fiat, I'd have bet money it was from the rear!

Easy job mate, jack it, stand it, wheel off makes access easy peazy.

Spray on some releasing fluid a few hours before you start.

All up with everything to hand, probably 60 a 90 mins all done.

Where your driveway meet's the road there's often a difference in level. On that hump you can often hear if the knocking comes when frontwheels or backwheels goes over that hump.

Front N/S drop link wobbly as hell.

Dropped her into a local mech at 8am - I'll let them rap their knuckles  :undecided:

Forgot to update.

Front droppers replaced, rattle-free ride. All up cost was £50, not bad seeing it included OEM drops which they had to drive out to pick up :D

My local Factors wanted £40 for a pair of OEM links so that's great value IMO Steve.  :goodjob2:
