Title: Novel Restaurant Pricing
Post by: AlanHo on July 19, 2011, 17:16:26: A new Chinese restaurant has opened in our area with a rather novel method of pricing "Early Bird" main courses.

Between 5:00 pm (when they open) and 7:00 pm; the main courses are priced in pounds and pence equivalent to the time you are seated at the table. Hence sit down at 5:45 pm and the cost will be £5.45. There is a large digital clock on the end wall which is used as the time benchmark.

After 7:00 pm normal menu prices are charged.

Do you have any unusual menu prices near you?

We can't enter our local eatery - there's a warning sign as you enter. Can't understand why they treat us like this...

I like that idea and won't be surprised if it doesn't escalate elswhere.

I take it the normal menu prices are > £7 plus

You must have rather strange Chinese restaurants in your part of the World if they serve cheeseburgers. Ours serve Chinese food.............. :wacko:

Yep. We have :-\

In 2000, we were staying at a little village called Huxley, just outside of Chester and we went to a nearby Chinese takeaway where we ordered fried rice and something like lemon chicken (from memory) and the proprietor asked us if we wanted chips with the order. :rolleyes:

Post by: Dazzler on July 19, 2011, 22:51:03: A couple of local Hotels (Pubs) owned by the same people have a similar idea in place but only with Chicken Parmigiana (Chicken Schnitzel with Cheese and tomato topping) it is only A$5 at 5PM, A$6 at 6PM and so on... I guess it relates to the staff's pay rates and that if you go early they might make more out of you over the evening in drinks??

Chips with everything seems to be the way in the UK.
We went to a pub in the south of Edinburgh for a dinner and had the roast of the day. Came with roast potato, mashed potato AND chips. :p
