I know it could save someone thousands but I think it is way too dear for a bit of plastic.. I would rather maint my filler cap bright red or something just as a reminder... :undecided:

Yeah, see where you are coming from,still I went and got one as the missus sometimes fills up. It's a bit more than a bit of plastic though. Quite clever how it works, needs to push three balls in together to open a sealing flap to put diesel in.If you need to use a high flow pump or a jerry can, it has a tool that enables it to be undone, no tool and
it would be hard to undo.
I very nearly got caught at a Caltex station with their Vortex premium and vortex diesel Pulp being Black and purple respectively, could be one bad hangover from a bad boo boo.
Anyway i am just trying to justify my spend lol :)

It can happen.... cost me $80 of fuel and over a hundred to drain the tank when I did it in my CRDi (Fortunately I realised before I started her up...) :-[

Each time I fill up I stand there looking backwards and forwards at the pump and the nozzle and read where it says "diesel" over and over... finally fill it. :sweating:
It's a case of measure twice, cut once.
P.S., the missus does not get to fill it. :goodjob:

No, even us petrol owners do that, usually to ensure that we are not spening 10p per litre more than we need to putting in high octane :whistler: :whistler: :whistler:

Yes I do it as well, mine is petrol but like Brian I do it so I don't put the more expensive fuel in. and double check it is not diesel.

never had a problem yet, the diesel pump uses bigger nozzel that flows faster, the unlead uses a smaller more restrictive nozel, it is impossible to insert a diesel nozzel into an unlead. but possible to use both normal flow diesel & high flow diesel into the i30 tank. as soon as you look at the diesel nozzle you can see it's larger diamiter. from experience, i get impatient filling up unlead as the fuel flows so slow, compared to diesel. putting 50L into the Hi Ace seems to take a long time. and i seem to have to do it every 300K ( two days ) were as 50L with Crystal or Betsy takes me over 1,000k. i payed $1.40 per L BP diesel e10 was selling at about same price 95 was 1.50 98 1.55. but goes up or down every day of week here. i think that device is a good thing if your wife fills up too, just for piece of mind. but you can get away with runing a diesel on petrol for a short time. but your not so loucky if you put diesel into a petrol & try. the restrictive unlead nozzel came in with unlead fuel, before when we had leaded fuel they had higer flow larger nozel. saw people put diesl into petrol a lot and kill there motor.

No certainly not. I do it everytime I fill up. Check the pump, check the cap, check the pump, check the cap. Then fill up. I am just glad the cap is on the other side in Viv than it was in my previous car. Seems to be a bit of a reminder that it is a different car. I drove my other car (a Mitsubishi Lancer) for nearly 17 years, so the different side is still a brain starter even after having Viv for almost 2 years.
