Title: Riots in the UK
Post by: Dazzler on August 09, 2011, 09:17:07
To all our UK members ..

I'd just like to say I'm devastated to see the mindless violence in London and elsewhere  :disapp:

As most of you know I am a fairly upbeat person but this has hit me for a 6  :blubber:

Gives any normal god fearing person a real fealing of dread...

I hear it has spread to Liverpool (hope you and yours are OK Lester)

Yeah it's not clever. Major conurbations coming under intense rioting - I'm expecting Manchester to get hit shortly :(

Just read that Sony's only CD/DVD distribution centre has been burning all night. There's only one in the UK, and it's melting :(

That must have been "fun".

Hope you guys will be okay. But it's just a question of time, when it will start in other countries. We'll see where and how all this will end.

We have seen similar in Greece and a few other countries.

May be it isn't just a 1 off but a global uprising against measures politicians are having to make due to the GREEDY BANKERS from 3 years ago who are now sticking more than 1 finger up and taking their bonuses......

Isn't this all down to one guy getting shot by the bobbies last week?

The looters & arsonists would probably be using that as their excuse right now  :faint:

I'm Sorry, enough off-topic. And I am not, in any way, making fun of the riots or anything like that. Just felt interesting.

Nice pic accim :D

Had to restrain my 18 y/o from taking the train to Manchester Piccadilly last night (voluntary work) as the word on the radio was that several dozen yoofs wearing ski masks and wielding baseball bats were loitering around three of the main rail stations

As someone above said, I wish it would just stop.

The Met aren't exactly helping out here, as they've been issuing a broadcast this morning saying they'll be scrutinising CCTV in an effort to identify as many miscreants as possible, with a view to prosecution. Now that's gonna help a lot

Looking at the pictures you have posted it could be for any innocent day out at the shops.

The chap with his mouth covered could have been to the dentist and had a tooth out.

I may be harder than the Police think to prosecute based on pictures without evidnce to show a person has commited a crime.

Trouble just 5 miles from me last night.

"There were reports of shops, pubs and cars being damaged in Birkenhead.

Merseyside Police said 100 youths were on Park Road South, Birkenhead, vandalising cars.

Windows were smashed at McDonald's in the Charing Cross area of the town and four people were arrested in Borough Road. "

Must be morons as all they would get would be a soggy burger and Fries ........

Nah, I think the images they're gonna use are the ones from the CCTV showing the lads legging it out of a shop with a 52" plasma screen under his arm :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

As for Accims pics, I wanna know who photoshoped the girls head into it, it's on the right of the image....     obviously been tampered with   :fum: :fum: :fum: :fum:

Daz,

Each weekday lunchtime the local BBC radio station has a listeners phone in were all sorts of topics are discussed.

The last 3 days have been all about the riots..

Today a chap call Martin, originally from New Brighton - some 4 miles from me, rang in from Tassie, Oz. He listens to the show on the internet.

He said daily news coverage from all over the globe was poor anyway but mentioned that the riots was getting alot of air time, especially those in "the north".

Unfortunately I couldn't get thro' to ask Roger, the presenter, in the studio to ask him if he knew you.

Do you know him?????

My cousin who lives in a small village in Cornwall tells me they had a "near" riot there last evening.

The village bakers ran out of pasties and a disappointed old lady stamped her foot in temper.

Just checked my policy.

In the General exceptions:

We will not pay in the event of:

...... rebellion..........
riot or civil unrest that happens outside England, Scotland, Wales, IOM or CI.

Definition of rebellion states:
Rebellion, uprising or insurrection, is a refusal of obedience or order. It may, therefore, be seen as encompassing a range of behaviors aimed at destroying or replacing an established authority such as a government or a head of state.

So they could use this to refuse claims.

I can see riot or civil unrest being changed by the insurance companies to include England, Scotland, Wales, IOM or CI.

Saying that I'm keping out of the troubled areas to save having to test the Insurance company's interpretation.....

My policy says the same, I am friends with a lady who works for one of the larger insurance companies in the UK (guaranteed to maked a crisis out of a drama ! :whistler: ) and she sent me this link stating that UK companies are not going to try and get out of it.....

Expected people to be covered otherwise they would have a riot on their hands..  :blubber:

I read that people without cover may receive some form of compo from the government so why should the people who do the right thing have to sub them.

I feel sorry for them but it was their choice not to insure.
