I noticed recently that the leather on the steering wheel is starting to peel off on the spot, where I normally hold it with my left hand.
I would understand that this happens after a few years, but I own the car since April... And I don't work in any chemical factory, nor I use any chemicals to clean the interior of the car.

Is this normal for leather on steering wheels? I haven't seen anything like that on any other cars we owned.

Leather quality in i30s is shockingly bad!!!!!!!!!
Here in Croatia many had that problem, and THE BEST solution is to make a deal with Hyundai!!!!!
Dont let them replace this one with original since its the same shit quality crap....let hyundai pay you leather in good aftermarket shop!!
Its practice here since that comes out cheaper and the REAL leather that owner gets in aftermarket is 1000000 times better quality!

Thanks. I will ask the dealer about this one next time I visit them.

I doubt they will accept that over here - even though it's cheaper (for you and them).

We actually had the leather parting from the wheel in our 2006 Getz and they replaced the whole wheel (no questions asked) ... :goodjob:

No doubt they will replace the wheel.
But getting aftermarket leather suit on wheel is win-win situation for both parties. ~80euro cost i think getting leather outside hyundai and thats faaaar less then new wheel.
I hope they see it that way too Neoto.

Yeah, I can see that being a better option (for sure) but does common sense often prevail (maybe not)

Here we go again... Almost exactly after 1 year, the 'leather' started to peel-off again...
Last year I suggested getting the aftermarket leather, but it was denied by Hyundai Slovenia. They replaced only the rim with the 'leather'. This year I think I will try again and suggest the same.
