I was in a friend's car the other day that had auto door locking when the car went over 20kph, the same as my i30. However, the door locks disengaged when the car (auto) was put in "Park". I thought this was a great idea as I have to remove the key or use the manual switch to disengage my door locks. This can be a pain.
Do any members think it would be feasible to modify the i30 auto to disengage the door auto lock feature when the car is placed in "Park"?

Yeah, mine does it at 40kph, and I find it super annoying. Is there anything in the manual about it? My manual is all in Korean and the .PDF I downloaded has some upside-down pages, so I can't fully search. If anyone knows how to disable this, please let me know.

Hey D-ROb, the feature can be disabled by your dealer deprogramming it.
I don't mind the auto locking. My beef is that to disengage it, I have to pull the key out or use the manual switch. I'd like it to disengage when I place the car in "Park"

The locks on my car activate at 40kph but sometimes due to heavy traffic traffic this does not happen for 5 to 10 minutes which rather defeats the object Is it possible to programme the locks to activate at a lower speed? Say 20kph

My August 2011 made CW locks at 15 Kmh. I would imagine the dealer can change that too, if common logic applies to how the locking function is implemented.

I'm guessing that if the BCM (body control module) is notified when the gearshift is moved to park, that it should be able to disengage the autolock at that time.
Need to check with Hyundai on that one...

There are three options.
Not activated
Lock at (about) 20 kph
Lock at 40 kph.
Easily adjusted by the dealer.

Thanks Shambles. One problem I have is that most of the dealers I have spoken to about technical information are useless. They look at you like you have two heads when you ask them a question.
As an example, trying to get some info out of them about the current rating of the EPS switch and if it could be used as a spotlight switch was hopeless. I might just talk to my auto electrician.

Eyethirty, I do use the unlock botton, but that's my beef. I'd rather the doors unlock when I put the car in "Park". Here are a few examples of why it annoys me. I'm sure many members experience the same frustration.
1. Stop the car, engine still running, car in "Park". Passenger in front gets out. Comes back to car to open back door. Back door locked, have to use unlock button.
2. Stop the car, engine still running, car in "Park". Passenger tries to get in any door. All doors locked, have to use unlock button.
2. Stop car, stop engine, key still in ignition. Driver gets out to get something out of the back seat or door. All doors locked, have to use unlock button.
My point is that if the door locks disengaged when the car is placed in "Park" (like my friend's car does) it would be far more convenient. Hence my question, is there a way this modification could be done on the i30.

Yeah I understand, went though the same confusion first time I picked up a passenger.
However, the way in which passengers enter and leave my car, I've gotten used to using the button now.
Hopefully the dealer can easily program something for you.

And one more. The button in my cw is unlit and is hard to locate fumbling around at night to let a back passenger in..especially in the rain and peak hour traffic.

We had Hyundai turn it off when they did our last service, 10 minute job they reckon.

Just get "Halo" turned off, that will save you all this hassle, angst and grief........ :whistler:
I can't see the point of it anyhow, seems the grief it causes outweighs any benefit from having it activated... :undecided:

Ralph & rustynutz..I know it can be deprogrammed, but I LOVE HALO, I just want the bloody thing to disengage when the car is in "Park", instead of using the bloody switch. If other manufactures do it, is it too hard for Hyundai to do???? :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:
