My 2010 i30 crw diesel 1.6 L has done 32000 klm. I just had the 30 k service and couldn't believe the price of the fuel filter...$120.
I get 40 -50 mpg depending on how hard I work the turbo. If I use a soft foot on the go pedal I can get close to 50 mpg but if I am heavy on the foot get in the low 40's. the motor is terrrific an the harder and faster I go in it the better it likes it and funnily enough the better the ride too. Otherwise the ride is shocking on anything but a smooth road and tyre noise is unnaceptable with seats that are simply too hard and I am glad to get out of it after a long trip.
I have worn out a set of tyres in 12 months with the rear tyres wearing out unevenly.
the car is a perfect size car and has heaps of good things about it but the above quirks drive me nuts. By far the best things about it are the fuel economy (almost 1000 klm from a tank of fuel), the performance of the engine (overtaking on the highway is a breeze) and the car itself seems to be well put together, very practical and reliable.

I have just bought an oil filter for my diesel i30 from Hyspares on net $20 plus freight Genuine Hyundai box sealed from Korea. The chap I spoke to, Ian, was very helpful. The filter has Mahle on top same as the one I bought from dealer

Yes that is about right for the Oil Filter but the Diesel Fuel Filter (genuine) is much more expensive ..

your tyre woe's can be rectified with a 4 wheel alignment. both the cw and hatch have adjustable toe. :goodjob2:

My 2010 CW, has 38k on board. No problems here, apart from a couple of rattles.
The solution to your diesel filter problem is a Ryco z707, for about $40. I fitted one on mine, nil issues so far.
