Title: Manual Transmission Fluid
Post by: Blue30 on September 28, 2011, 06:57:24
Is it important to change the manual transmission fluid in the 5sp 2.0L? I would say it should be, however there is no mention in the service manual about it being replaced. At what mileage should i ask the dealer to change it for me?

Manual gearbox oil is usually kept for life. The only reason to change it would be to "adjust" the specification.

The oil does not wear as such.

and to add to pip's fine post, the oil in a modern manual transmission is very similar to whats in an automatic transmission.
