Title: Putin’s Eye for Power Leads Some in Russia to Ponder Life Abroad (article in NY)
Post by: meehalych on October 04, 2011, 20:53:49
Here is an article in NY times (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/02/world/europe/putins-eye-for-power-leads-some-in-russia-to-ponder-life-abroad.html?_r=3&hp=&pagewanted=all) about the 6-th wave of immigration from Russia.
I'm not sure if everything what is written there is 100% true, cause the source is an American (one has to remember the fake facts about the war in South Ossetia and Abhazia in 2008), but there may be someone who is going to change the country because of many reasons, we will see.
Well lads, get ready to meet them in your cities  :D

We are getting inundated already with many boatloads of illegal immigrants and the government has no idea how to stop them.. :blubber:

Are they all Asians, such as Vietnamese?
I wonder if there is any Russian in your city, who managed to get that far from the motherland...

Plenty of Vietnamese in Oz, but they came in the first wave of boat people, in the 70's after the Vietnam war. Most now have adult children and are well integrated into our population and our culture is the richer for it, as it is from the influx of (particularly) Greeks and Italians after WW2.

It would appear most boat people now are from Afghanistan and the Middle East (Iran/Iraq in particular), with quite a few a little while ago from Sri Lanka.

There were quite a few "White Russians" when I was a kid. I'm not sure but I think they were from places like Latvia and its neighbours.

My wife worked with a lovely Russian woman (who is Jewish) in Sydney. In the same office was a Shanghai Chinese woman and a Pakistani Muslim. Togather with my wife they were a great bunch to socialise with.

Here in Russia we have got a real problem with Caucasians, who, at least some of them, neglect the normal behavior, mostly it is caused by police, who refuses to undertake any measures, the same is the government as well . Apart from this bunch of idiots the rest nationalities seem to live well in the country there are lot of immigrants from the former USSR republics, such as Tadzhikstan,  Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldavia and  some others, who are mostly involved in building realm and in the street cleaning.

We have that in the UK too, mostly from Poland.  They also work in fast food outlets, and good on them, our own population are in the position that the government pay them big bucks (from our taxation) to sit on their bahookies all day drinking Bucky and watching Jeremy Kyle.  The hourly rate for this occupation far outweighs working on a building site/cleaning or Maccy D's/KFC parlour.

It has just leaked out that among all the other costs our government is forking out over $4,000 A WEEK to supply the boat people who are in detention awaiting the outcome of their visa applications, with cigarettes.

That sort of statistic does nothing to endear the boat people, or the government to the people of Oz. Thankfully, I can say the I didn't vote for these lying, (no carbon tax) fools currently running the country. Mind you, the other mob are just as stupid with their ridiculous workplace reforms that got them kicked out in the first place, so now we have nobody who can run the place!

BTW the boaties will all get sick from free smokes and help to load our collapsing health system after contributing nothing in their lifetimes.... great   :( :(

Something like this may be a deterrent....  :p

Russian marine vs Somalia pirates (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDmdtcyDVlg#ws)

Not that I'm suggesting our Government should do this cos' that would be wrong on so many levels...... :winker:

That may be a bit extreme, no what we will do is spend a fortune sitting around discussing and arguing our options and come to the conclusion that it's all too hard to fix, bit like the United Nations actually, what a joke they are.

Don't desist on my part. I reckon the thread is developing nicely as a natural progression from the thought processes engendered by meehalych's original post.

Just on the expenses. We are also providing them with virtually unlimited phone cards so they can keep in touch with family back home, and free legal support so they can challenge the laws of our country.
Hmm. Just re-read that last par and it doesn't look all that nice. However I'll leave it there for now because it's fact. Whether or not we agree with it is a whole other subject and maybe best left off here.
