Title: Weather shields - anyone bought from ebay recently?
Post by: Cindy on December 11, 2011, 12:03:25
Trying to decide where to buy some from before my new baby arrives in the next week or so  :)

There are a couple of links on ebay:

They all look slightly different lengths, unless it's just my eyes and the pics! lol  Has anyone bought any of these and can comment on how well they fitted?

Hi Cindy,
I'm personally not a lover of these but I have used them in years past.
I can see how they might be useful in certain weather conditions if you like fresh air but I tend to not like all the fumes from other traffic so leave my windows up and use the aircon on recirculate.
Then I just regulate the flow of air. All of which means no smells and no extra humidity in the car.
I reckon they should all be the same length or else they wouldn't cover the window properly so maybe it's just the way the photos are taken. Also, why is one so much cheaper than the rest?

Never had them on a car, what do they do exactly and do they make a noise at all.

both our cars had them thrown in as freebies when we bought them,i riped my ones off as soon as i got home. the wife loves them on her cw because if its raining she can have her windows down a little bit while she drives and the rain doesn't come in.  :goodjob2: as for wind noise,i cant say that I've noticed any.

Can't help with the decision though I often wish I had them fitted, or at least one on the drivers side (I always drive with the window open, rain or shine, usually rain)

...as for wind noise,i cant say that I've noticed any.
I've heard they're great for disguising flatulence  :P

Hi Cindy

The ones we got for the Wife's CW are a bit square,  but they don't create any noticeable wind noise and dress the car up a bit.

The ones that came on our other car (A Camry Hybrid) look quite dressy as they have a chrome strip similar to the fourth link...

I would recommend those and I doubt you will have any problems with the fitment.. Trish's fit perfectly.. :goodjob:

P.S. I don't drive with my windows down but still like the look of them (particularly on the camry) Rounder ones with chrome on them would have been nice for the CW too.. :goodjob:

Thanks for all your replies.

I very rarely have any passengers in my car, so the flatulence is not a problem  but I am a smoker and have my drivers window open a touch most of the time, rain or shine.

Dazz....I see what you mean about the ones with the chrome strips being a bit more streamline and maybe a bit classier looking.  Hmm...just a bugger that the seller is away until the 3rd of Feb and I get my new car early next week!

A couple of other things I've just noticed.

There is no other chrome on the windows of the SLX.  Any opinions on wether it would look a bit weird to have that strip across the top?

The seller also says there is the 3M tape 'and' clips.   Any ideas on wether those clips are going to be horribly visible and distract from the streamline look?

Sorry...typical female here and likes to have other 'opinions'

the ones on my wife's cw have only double sided tape holding them on,and they're factory weather Shields.  I'm not sure what the clips are for.

Only double sided tape on ours too

I still think a bit of chrome would look ok especially if you got the chrome handle covers as well

I put the chrome handles on last month, they look much better than the black plastic.  :happydance:

If you smoke in car, you may need it, especially in the raining days.
If you don't smoke in car, and like to be special, you may need it.

However, once fitted, it's a trouble to remove it, due to the tape.

Normally when we buy a new car, the dealer is willing to give for free, just ask. But I didn't.  :D

As an off-topic, my daughter was asking for help naming the baby and she said she liked the name Fletcher but couldn't think of a suitable second name to go with it.
I suggested Lance.
She didn't agree for some reason  :whistler:
