There I was, sitting at the lights on Ginninderra Drive in Belconnen (Canberra) when I look to my right and notice a dark grey hatch with some nice mags on it driving through the lights in front of me. Thinking that it looks rather good, amongst the normal Falcodore brigade.
Only when the driver tooted the horn then I realised it was EymaTeapot's i30.
Gave a friendly wave back once I snapped out of my own little world. (Long day at work, was on my way home, music playing away)
Who has spotted another member on this forum driving about in the wild?

I have seen a blue one around my area a few times now and I've seen a white one (maybe yours Diva?). Yesterday we drove to Narabeen for a swim and I saw 2 silver ones, a dark gray one and a blue one. Every time I pointed them out my wife would shake her head hehehe. I even tooted the guy in the dark gray one as I drove past him while he was turning.
I'm the same as you Diva, I see one and just have to look

i dont have mine yet....
But i will have it this Saturday on the 25th October.....

Yep.. That was me .
Wife was driving, its her car apparantley :D
We were on our way to the Cotter Dam for a BBQ with freinds. (locals will know the spot)
When we got there, among the 20 or so cars in the parking lot was a moonlight blue SLX with roof racks. I have seen the same car getting around the Belconnen area a bit lately. I wonder If it belongs to a felloew member?
-
I've seen a few i30's around Nowra.
There is a beautiful white SR, which I might have already mentioned in another thread.
Saw a black one with nice rims too.
-
Spotted a Steel Grey SX near Rookwood Cemetery (Centenary Drive) on Friday afternoon about 3:45pm heading North. Looked fairly new though I didn't get to spy the plates. The driver was female though so I didn't want to smile and wave in case she thought I was a crazy freak and not a nice freak
-
Were you driving the i30 or riding your toasted sandwitch press at the time?
-
If you want a town with I30's go to Byron bay - gawd I saw at least a dozen of them the day I was there!!
There's starting to be a few around the roads of Bendigo (Victoria) now, I've seen most of the colours now
-

I was in my i30. I only "ride" my toaster during periods of extreme drunkedness
-
Was driving up Mt Dandenong today, looked in the mirror and a couple of cars behind me was another red SLX following.....got all excited for a minute.
-
I've seen heaps on the road now. Overtook one on Great Northern Highway a week or so ago, last weekend there was a steel grey SLX identical to mine (didnt see if it was manual or auto) parked in the Bindoon Bakery, saw a blue SLX in the Bindoon Bakery today. There is another blue i30 I always pass in the opposite direction on Gt Northern Hwy in the mornings and arvos. Perth seems to be swimming in i30's lately.

I've seen heaps on the road now..
Still not seen 1 where I live!!!!

Plenty of i30's in Darwin (well seen atleast half a dozen all different colours in less than four days) Nilesh (Gurkah17) says there are lots up here too and is surprised he is only NT Member so far...

-
Hi Nilesh,
So you have met the man, the great one in the flesh, I speak of course of Dazz.
So whats he like. I picture him as being like our own Jack Thompson, Rugged, Tough, Aussie through and through. Or maybe like a hollywood film icon, a senior aged sex symbol, maybe a Harrison Ford or a George Cloney. Or is he more like the ultimate womens man, the great scot, Sean Connoly, or am I off the mark completley?
-

Dazz - is this you?
-
I've seen a few down here in south east England, just shows what an exclusive car it is.

ive seen two in my country town of 20,000 people, ones a light silver diesel sx (older owner) might not be in horsham, the other is a black base petrol model and a P plate girl owns it...
i want mine! 12 days to go till monday for its arrival!
-
They seem to be breeding as fast as grasshoppers in the NSW Central West - seen at least a dozen in the past week, including a red SR with 'i30' blazed in huge letters on each side... a bit loud for me, but it certainly stood out from the crowd...
-
Well as the thread seems to have turned into a "who spotted one", I can now say I've seen my 1st ever i30 on the road.
I was passed on a motorway last night by a silver model - first I've ever seen on a UK road. It was carrying trade plates so was either being driven by a dealer or was on a test drive. Woohoo

 Only two? I live in a town with just over 25,000 people in it and I reckon there'd be more than 20 zipping around here...

Where, where.
Tell me where.
I need to go and see.
Please, please tell me where.

We were in Super Cheap Auto parts today at Chermside Brisbane buying a car cover for the i30. On the way out there was a silver i30 SR parked outside that wasn't there on the way in. It was registered in NSW. Just wondered if any forum member was passing our way?

Now, lets see, that's a ratio of 1:1250.
I live in a town of 400. There are 2 i30s. That's a ratio of 1:200.
We see each other every day (no we are not neighbours).
Not bad hey!

I'm interested in a half cover, i.e. just cover windows and roof, but those I've seen are no good because of the ariel as I don't want to remove it each time I put cover on.
How does your fit??
-
Hi eye30,
I don't think the one we bought would suit your situation as it is a full cover. Although when I say full not quite as I have found when it come to covers the i30 has a huge ass. But it is 100% waterproof with vents. My daughter's fiance' car (Corolla Seca) was caught in a hail storm not far from here and the turret section was completely ruined. and the car was written off. I thought if caught in the open a couple of folded travel blankets and this cover may afford some protection. You can buy hail covers here but they are so unwieldy as to be practically useless. Even when folded they take up the whole boot area. Would hate to have the car beat up by hail. I know insurance would cover it but the inconvience ??

Do you have any links to sites, or a photo on your car, so I can compare to what is available in UK

Haven't any photos at moment but will take one this afternoon and post it so you can see it.

Hi RB,
Thanks for pics.
Cover same as what I can get in UK so may go for the full cover. For quickness in morning I'm after one that just covers windows and you clip cover under wheel arch to stop it blowing away. Just to keep frost off.
As they are cheapish, 1 idea I have is to put a split for the ariel and reinforce split so it doesn't rip. Or remove ariel and just play CD's as I'm only 20 minutes to work.
What did you do with ariel do you take it off?
Cheers for that RB
-
Hi eye30,
The aerial should just fold forward so that it is flush with the roof and then flip back when you remove the cover. It's not a fixture that needs to be removed. We have found that it works pretty well as good down as up anyway. Your welcome.

Thanks for the info RB but on my car the ariel is screwed into a rubber block.
The ariel is ridged and only quivers. I can not push it down level with the roof. If I did it would snap

I wonder if Oz i30's ariels are a different design?

Hey eye, yes the one the i30 comes with are diff to that m8, that one to me looks like an Indian has hit you with a suction cap arrow ;)

Thanks for that so RB can use a cover without any problems.
Any picture to compare?

Hi eye30.
I now understand your problem with the cover. As Lakes said above our aerials in OZ have a pivot mount that enables it to be laid flat against the roof(stowed). Maybe a strategic hole or a bigger cover ? Going away for few days in 30 mins will send pic when back.

Will give them a ring and ask if fits i30.
2 others do covers by car. Plenty for Hy cars but none for i30!

Now that's a better ariel than the one on UK models.
Why didn't they put this on UK models as it would stop K***heads twanging the ariel etc.
At shops today went into Motorworld and had car covers on special offer.
Got a car top cover at the knocked down price of £4.68 ($10.92 AUD) should have been £14.99 ($35.00 AUD) see photo below.
Medium just not big enough so taking back to exchange for Large.
They also had full covers on special offer as well.

i spotted a steel grey CRDi SX yesterday, it parked next to me at maccas and as i was getting into my red nissan exa they were getting out, just a couple of old ducks and i said nice car im getting mine next week same colour and all.. then they persisted to show me the car and tell me all about it... i already knew it all but it was entertaining for me again. haha
-
Been spotting i30's around Syd a lot more lately.
Also noticed that the rental co at mascot airport are renting i30's so that has to be good as that has been corolla domain ( in that size) but next size down they use a lot of Getz so they must be proving dependable.
so Shambles and eye have no excuse now they can fly to SYDNEY hIRE AN I30 AND DRIVE TO bONDI bEACH FOR A HOT NEW YEARS EVE V

lol @ Lakes :?

Glimpsed a moonlight blue i30 near Concord Hospital this morning.

Never parked next to another i30 before...hehe

It had a tweed heads sticker on the back windscreen.
Anyone from here?

Hi Guys,
Had to share this with you. I was heading down Gungahlin drive tonight at about 5.50pm. I went through a traffic light and there on my right, stopped at the red light was a lovely Red SLX i30. I dont see them that often so I waved as I drove past, not sure if they saw me. Any way, I was still looking in the rear view mirror when my 12 year old son quickly pointed another coming towards us, this time a Vivid blue SLX. Cool I said to my son, Two i30's in the space of 100m, Three including the one we are driving. Before I could even finish the sentence, only 2 or three cars behind the previous, another i30, again vivid blue but this time an SX flew by.
I reckon maybe I see one or two a day now, but to see three, and my own all on the same stretch of road within only seconds of each other, really was good stuff
-
Most of us on this site (including me) seem to get a kick out of seeing other i30's on the road (we also get excited if we see Tiida's with body kits or nice alloys)
I think it might be a computer virus..
-
Lol Dazz..
I'm the same. I get excited when I see other i30's.

Would be good to catch up

Have been seeing lots around Newy in the last week, i guess the latest shipment has put a few on the roads.
Parked next to one at Waratah shops and saw 2 in the space of 5 mins same Moonlight blue colour, did not catch the models but i think one was sx as it did not have alloys.
I wouls imagine the numbers are only going to increase as the back orders come in.
-
Mine will be back together tonight (Doing the passenger side lights as I type, I'm a clever person, two things at once)
All I can say is, you'll know it's me, from either the front or the rear!
-
get a kick out of seeing other i30's on the road
I'd give anything to see another.
-
More i30's
Had to work in sydney on friday nioght at saterday, on the way down i was passed by a Moonlight Blue with towball.
On the way back on saterday night i was passed again by a Grey SLX crdi with a female driver and male passanger (around 5.30pm). I had my CC set on 120kph and they both went passed going around 125-130kph. Neither made a look in my direction so prob not forum members.
-
I'm planning a trip down to Canberra perhaps in the next month, so who knows...
Might see Eyma or Thumper!
8-)
-
Cheers Thumper.
I'm going to be flatout this week with work, but I'll see how I go.
It would be a lovely drive down

According to Google Maps roughly 3 and a half hours from Nowra.
Probably less once you get going on the Hume.
-
Sitting here reading this post on a rather quite sunday at work, only to laugh as i look up and spot about 15 i30 all lined up out the back ready for someone to come and buy. i see them everywhere LOL
-
Which dealership you work at mate?
-
we also get excited if we see Tiida's with body kits or nice alloys
Backs away slowly, not showing any fear
-
I saw a steel gray i30 (from afar) on Saturday 15th at a set of light along Kissing Point Road and Park Road/Adderton Road. It was about 6:30pm. Now from the looks of it, it looked like Drew1981 because it had the same kind of rims, but it also had LED rear lights. I only caught a glimpse of it so can't be 100% sure plus I was driving in the other direction to get some dinner otherwise I would have turned around and taken a closer look.
-
I passed (going the other way) a moonlight blue i30 on saturday going through Dunmore Shellharbour (south of Wollongong)
The other person did look, but I'm not sure if it was anyone from here
-
