Title: Buzzing noise when locking with central locking??
Post by: poczynek on January 09, 2012, 03:10:07
Hi there, the last few weeks when I lock the doors using the central locking it locks it then makes a loud buzzing noise for 2 seconds - like a sort of 'zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz' noise. It doesn't happen when opening the car and it doesn't prevent the doors being locked. It seems to be coming from the locking mechanism in the car. Any ideas?? Thanks.

As the locking mechanism is controlled by solenoids, I would suggest that on of them is stuck, or not functioning correctly. See if you can pinpoint, more accurately just where the noise comes from. If it's a door, then the faulty one should be obvious. After locking, check to see if the lock tabs have all moved to the lock position and check each door. If that doesn't work, go to the dealer.

I would squirt some CRC or WD40 into the locks as well (with one of those attached straws) they may be tight which is making the solenoid work overtime  :goodjob:
