After seeing so many photos of I30s together on Soeulmate's posts, I thought I'd start this thread. Here's my first effort.

I just love it when you're not flaky Dazzled.
By the way, did the photo look OK as I posted it from my new HTC mobile and it looked a bit cropped on my screen.

Which car is yours UM. the white or the black?

You chopped the front off the Black one but we got the idea (and yours is much nicer anyway) :happydance:
-
That answers my question :)
Two questions if I may. What wheels do you have on your car?
And is the front light bracket one of those that is held in place by the number plate screws?
And also (sorry, I had 3) If it is, how well does it work?
(Make it 4). Do you find that the lights vibrate when on?
Thanks.

Mine is the white CW,Dave. Stay posted as I'll try to post some more pics.
I just see so many i30s in my travels that I thought it would be a nice idea to capture a few shots and share them with the members.

It looks great.
I'm waiting with bated breath :faint:

The grey i30 is a 2.0 CRDi Premium. The guy who owns it is head of security in the University of Ulster and a very decent chapp who I have spoken to a few times. Was in the Uni doing some work one night with a friend and ended up chatting to him for ages :)

I can answer all the questions you can throw, :D
The wheels are 18x7.5 alloys off an i45.
Front light bracket is the type you mentioned. $29 from Supacheap Auto. It works well with very little vibration when on. I'be never checked to see if they vibrate when off .

The wheels look good. How did you find the difference in ride & noise when compared to standard?
I've often thought about trying one of the brackets.

I didn't know that.
Folding the driver's side mirror by hand is no problem, but doing the passenger one is a bit difficult (unless you have the long arm of the law ).

There is a thread about the differences between the CW and the Hatch on here somewhere (I'll edit this if I find it) It helps to justify the extra $2000.

What I don't like, is how Hyundai won't sell you an SLX cw crdi manual. It has to be an SX. Where's the logic in that?
-
I've edited my previous post with the link to the differences..
Yes a bit disappointing you can't get an SLX manual but the SX comes up ok with some accessories :goodjob:
-
Thanks for that, interesting read.
So they've included a few of the SLX goodies such as rear seat armrest, SLX upholstery, etc + a bit more.
-
I've got some too:

What does she normally drive and did she take it to a main dealers for service?
If another marque seems strange for the garage to provide a rival.

I am gonna have to give ya a blond answer to that one, which is no big deal for me cos I really know that I am a DOPE some of the time, so, are ya ready :- She drives a black one normally..... HAhahahahahahahaa....
When she gets her own car back I repost to proper answer... I think the loan car will be from the body shop or an independant car hire place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... so that being the case they'll go for best value, which as we know is HYUNDAI (three cheers) :-)

ps When you go to Heswall do you go to the the new building on Broad Lane?

Good one guys. Not sure if this fits the criteria but here's a shot from my i30 of another in front of me at traffic lights. My dash and his bum. Not too good as it's persisting down and all lights are on.
The other pics are of my modification (a rope) to enable my short a..sed wife to pull the hatch down. Had to use some hat elastic to make the rope disappear into the back. There's a mod for the manufacturers to set an adjustable limiter on the struts.
:agoodidea:

My wife Trish is only 5 feet tall but she can reach the grab handles on the inside of the rear door on her CW (but that doesn't open as high)
-
What does she normally drive and did she take it to a main dealers for service?
If another marque seems strange for the garage to provide a rival.
She normally drives a Corsa, I had a passing comment from her in which she said they like the i30 apparently it's her son who has it opn loan for a month, I didn't enquire why tho, non of my business... :-)
-
Got a couple good ones the other day.
Its great because its the same colour as my car and near identical to how mine look from the outside originally :D

also has a dent in the side similar to the one I put in my mums.. except I dented her other side.. oops :(

Is that a U.K. shot?
I didn't know you had P plates over there.
We have red & green ones in W.A.
-
Never seen that, looks like it could be. In Northern Ireland its red L plates when learning, and Orange R plates once passed for 1 year.
England has the same L plate, however the P plate is not mandatory :)
-
We have yellow L plates with a black "L" then white plates with a red "P" for the first year, then white plates with a green "P" after that until no longer a probationary driver.
-
UK have Green - P.
But no Tax disc showing so unless a SORN vehicle (Statutory Off Road Notice i.e not used on the public highway) then doubt if UK.
But again I could be wrong.............

One of the stickers is Uncle Toby's.
Do you have Uncle Toby's oats or is that only in Australia?

When you see the old with the new you can see the changes more.
Many miles of carefree motoring

Alan, I'll bet you have plenty of non car enthusiast neighbours who won't even notice you have a new car because they don't see past the colour.
Looks great BTW.

It's worse than that - I collected the car last Thursday whilst my wife was out doing her charity work. I had deliberately not told her the car was ready - she thought I had posponed it until after our imminent holiday to Cyprus in a couple of weeks time and wanted to surprise her. She came home at about 6.0 pm (still broad daylight), parked alongside the new car and never noticed.
She has been out on two occasions since and has still not noticed that the car has been changed. She came back from visiting a friend today and parked alongside my car whilst I was fiddling about in the boot. She asked what I was doing - peered in - and still didn't notice it was a new car.
I am having great difficulty keeping a straight face and am now fascinated to see how long I can keep it going.
When she does eventually notice - I will be in the proverbial dog house for "taking the micky out of her". Especially because yesterday I failed to notice that she had moved the furniture around in the lounge and she joked that, like most men, I lack perspicuity.
Never mind - I can always arrange a stay in the HOS.
-
Car looks great Alan, enjoy  :D
-
Great shots, Alan. Congratulations on the new arrival. Have you christened her yet?
Perhaps I should rephrase that, do you have a name picked out yet?

Yes - but I am writing up some notes which includes photos of my first days with the car. When I work out how to post it - all will be revealed.

Just write it in word and then copy and paste into the forum..that way you won't be timed out if you are writing a long post and won't lose you new post.....
-

Not possible - it includes a number of photos - each being associated with a particular section of text. I can do this in Word or Publisher easily - but this will not copy and paste properly with the pics. If I paste just the text and then try adding the illustrations - it would be a nightmare - no let me rephrase that - impossible for me.
We are looking at possibly a dozen pages plus 20 to 30 pictures.
-
That's quite funny about your wife not noticing the new car.
Had a similar experience yaers ago when we built a whole new verandah right across the front of our house and when my parents came up they didn't notice it - even when they were standing underneath it.
P.S. I seem to have lost yet another post that I posted yesterday about the red Ferrari  It's gone.

Ahh thats all good Daz, I'm not too concerned.....the man will be 73 this year so he's already well aware he's getting old :P
I must say though I am in love with the car he has given me.....prior to getting the i30 I was driving a 2007 Hyundai Tucson City and it was terrible on fuel......it would cost about $60 to fill up and I could only get 380-400 kms out of a tank.....and it's a 43km journey each way to the office for me every weekday so the tanks weren't lasting long!
My gorgeous little SLX even has a permanently mounted GPS and reversing camera - so I have all the mod-cons :)
(although when the bumper is replaced the camera will need to be shifted sightly, as you will notice in the pic it has gone off-filter)
If only I could find an SR amp somewhere on eBay and get the specs for the JBL speakers they put in the SR......then I would never need another car again! Don't get me wrong, the stez in the SLX is great (especially the way I have tuned all the settings), but it does tend to disort at tinnitus creating sound levels :(
-
Looked like you like the site as well :D.. I am enjoying your posts and pix :happydance:
We had an SLX CRDi Manual from March 2008 until August 2010 until we upgraded it to a Camry Hybrid.. (both brilliant cars in my opinion.. but very different)
We now have a 2.0 Petrol CW (manual) as our 2nd car.. and my wife loves it with a passion :goodjob2: :goodjob:

Yeah well the great thing is, the more i30's I stalk, the more fun I have, and the more fun I have, the more pics I take, and the more pics I take and post on here, the more free advertising our business gets! :)
Actually had a "one that got away" type scenario the other day with a fellow i30 - came out of a shopping centre and saw a 2.0 Petrol i30 SX parked on the opposite side of the road, so I quickly turned left and chucked a U-ey, pulled up behind it, got my phone cam ready to grab another pic, and then noticed a lady with boxes crossing the road heading straight toward it......didnt have the balls to get out and take the picture anyway, she was already looking at me a bit sus because I pulled up so closely to her in order to squeeze both cars in the pic.......so I just pretended to be on a phone call for a min or two while she was packing her car and then reversed out and drove away
-
I have had similar things happen.. don't want to look like a stalker :-[
-

More stalking on our shopping trip today - bought our wedding bands which was the last thing to tick off on our "to do" list before the big day on May 5!
And stalked my first wagon, you know what they say, once you go wagon......
If you look closely you'll see Jess (my fiancee) has managed to get in on the pic too - didnt notice this until I just posted it! (db08 - make sure your specs are on) :P
But c'mon guys, you're not giving me any competition! :happydance:

Thanks Scott (nice CW)

Wow that is impressive, you've given me something to aspire to!
There's an elderly couple that live about 5 mins from me who both have matching i30cw's......and only very rarely do they ever have them both out of the garage at the same time......but one day I'd love to pull into their driveway and do the old 'pic and run' with all three - that'd be a laugh and a half.

Could've got a third, a sexy red one too, but I couldn't get the pic because it was parked in a 'No Standing' zone and I was worried the footballers training very close by may mistake me for a parking inspector, pick me up, and make me their new football....

I've been working in Burnie this week and parking in a hi-rise carpark. I parked in my usual spot and there was an i30 next to me and a new model Elantra in front of me. I was going to take a photo (with my phone) for this thread when I realised I don't drive an i30 any more :-[

After the 2 week hunt to buy a car, I have them on the brain and can now pick a whole bunch of car models as if they were second nature road signs.
This one was spotted from the turn in point... obvious choice was to park here (not close to the super market door)
Interesting to see the different additional options: this one had steering wheel audio controls, aftermarket window trims, carpet dashboard, wooly seat covers, fog lamps. (I think it was an SX) It was 2.0l auto
Mines got additional side airbag package for an SX and tinted windows.
Even though the car is for the wife, and its a cute hatchback, It sounds like male because its a diesel, hence the moustache :)

Nice shop :D

Nice shop :D
I can't remember what it is.
Maybe a coffee shop or a knockers shop or a cop shop.
Not sure.
-
Here is Jean with three other Hyundais last night.
She's still a bit shy and I couldn't coax her to move closer unfortunately.
On a side note, I got to talking with the owner of the new Accent and he said that it was his fifth new Hyundai and the only thing that had ever gone wrong with any of them was a flat battery on the first one, which was back in 2006.

I can just see the sign on the entrance to that park.
Hyundais Only.

Absobloodylutely.
Gotta keep all the unwashed rabble out. :happydance:

It turned out ok because the car park filled up with P76s so we just had Hyundais and Leyands. :D

"the photo of my i30's brother with other i30" :)

:goodjob: I missread that Misha .. I was about to say "I didn't know you had a Brother with an i30" :-[
-
Very artistic.
-
My i30 met it's 2nd i30 today (my parents own one as well.......no pic as yet, they always leave theirs in the garage!).
Had a chat while us humans stocked up on some groceries.

ETA: Sorry it's a little big! Didn't think my phone took pictures that large
-
In most cases here, the bigger the better :whistler:
-
Fd...this is GD.......glad to meet you..... :goodjob2:
-
Great pic. :goodjob2:
I wonder if they compared owners? :undecided:
-
I doubt anyone will ever see a photo of Frugal Firty near any other car, let alone an i30. I park overnight in a single under-main-roof brick garage behind a rollerdoor and have the luxury of day parking on secure Commonwealth territory with at least a dozen empty car spaces around it in all directions...not that I'm particular in any odd way :whistler:
-
I wonder if they compared owners? :undecided:
 (we would have won :whistler:)

:faint: I don't even know what to say to that one :snigger:

Based on what criteria
-
Haha, because that car has been treated better than anything we've ever owned so far! It really is the new family baby
-
Good one guys.
:agoodidea:
I don't mean to be rude, but Holy cow your missus mest be really vertically challenged if you had to have the rope come down to almost the rear bumper, how does she see over the dash when driving :whistler:
-
how does she see over the dash when driving :whistler:
Dashed if I know??

Mine + another i30 found in Worthersee this year (was an anniversary edition model - 20 years Hyundai in Austria). Had 19 inch OZ wheels, LED tail lights  , navi, xenon, PDC and pretty much everything as standard.
