Now owned by the Americans.
But Dick Smith is going to bring out Ozemite soon I believe which will be fully Australian owned and made :)

Red caviar....
I love it.
:P
How much does that Vegemite of yours cost?
How much would the postage expenses be, if to send a box with that spread to Russia (from Australia, as Vegemite is said to be Australian food)?
-
They advertise Marmite over here by saying you either 'love it or hate it', but I can take it or leave it. Same with Vegemite.
A jar of either will last me a year. :D
-
I bought my current 200gram jar 3 days ago... about 1/3rd left lol!
Micha I have no idea what it would cost to get some to you... have you tried a Search to see if any local Russian entrepeneur has bought it in?
-
Marmite or Vegemite.
Donkey vomit :argh:

As it's said here: "With taste and color the felt pens vary"
Have you tasted the liquorice sweets?

Have just found a Russian site, that sells Vegemite, where:
220g jar costs 500 rub; 17 USD + postage fees (unknown)

Marmite I hate the stuff.
I found it very salty and has a very sour meaty taste to me but other I know like the stuff on bread.
Had a chap in work who had it nearly everyday for his lunch on sandwiches..
Same for Peanut butter. As a kid and loved it. Tried it on my own kids and it was so sweet and tastless.
Rather have HP (brown) sauce spread on toast with or without bacon/sausages/black pudding/egg etc
-
Love Marmite and Vegemite.
Can't be doing with peanut butter, despite loving peanuts
Much the same I guess with liver pate (love), liver itself - bleurghhhh!
-
bumpkin
Can you get low salt peanut butter. I can't eat the normal stuff, tastes like sea water there's so much salt. Lo salt tastes ok though.

You can get that is OZ now .. I think they have reduced the saltiness of most Peanut Butters anyway. We don't add salt to anthing but chips so salty stuff tastes real salty to me (but I enjoy Peanut Butter on toast)
Ironically I had my first Vegemite for about a few months the other day and thought wow that is salty :undecided:
-
I like Vegemite ONLY on those crispbread biscuits, like Ryvita or Vita Weat (sp=brand name) the saltiness is masked by the bland biscuit & is an enjoyable combination.

What is your blood pressure like Keith.?. I used to eat a lot of it (and peanut butter0 in my late teens. I got diagnosed with high blood pressure at 21.. by avoiding vegemite and cutting all other salty food or using salt reduced peanut butter/ Tomato sauce etc.. I managed to get it undercontrol without medication :happydance:
-
Me too, 4 meds for it, still High though. Just 1 of many medical issues I'm afraid.

My Vegemite is in the refrigerator at work so probably gets attacked by others in the office... But I had my "Well Man" check in June 2011 & all my vitals were fine Daz.
I've dropped almost 9 stone tho over the last 10 years or so...
I'm now 14stone 4lbs, 6feet 2 inches.
Changed my eating habits hugely, my GP is delighted lol!
-
Geez.. you are a big bugger (in a nice way)
I'm in the middle of my annual check up (blood presure is up a tad) :undecided: Got to fast in the morning so they can test my blood for a whole heap of things.. I mainly want to know if my dicky liver is getting better or worse and hoping my prostate (PSA) reading is ok :sweating:

Probably, havent looked, its not the saltiness I dislike, just the overall texture and that claggy taste on your tongue afterwards. :p
-
and that claggy taste on your tongue afterwards. :p
I have a funny little ritual with my toast.. I usually have three toasts (if I have toast for breaky)
The first one has Peanut Butter, The 2nd one Honey and I finish off with Raspberry Jam or Marmalade (they have to be in that order)
-
Hmmm, OCD
-
Toast = thick cut orange marmalade
Crumpets = honey
Buttery = Strawberry/Raspberry jam and cheddar cheese (this is also nice on toast).
(be interesting to see the comments on my last one!!) :P
-
Love Vegemite as long as it is quite thinly spread. :goodjob2: Peanut butter on the other hand needs to be spread as thick as possible. :goodjob:
The claggy taste on the roof of your mouth is half the joy! :D
Vegemite and cheese is pretty damn good. Not sure about jam and cheese though.
(What's a buttery?)

Yes, Yes and :undecided: I don't like mixing sweet and savoury :p

Local delicacy, basically a heart attack on a plate, but very nice!!

-
Add 2 other Scots delicacies for Heart Attacks
Deep fried Mars bars in batter.
&
Deep fried black / white pudding toasties...
:scared:
-
Deep fried Mars is actually very nice, it's a light coating of batter and flash fried in seconds, batter goes crispy, chocolate, caramel and mallow goes soft and chewy.
We tried doing it with Snickers too, but the peanuts explode!
An ye canna beat a nice deep fried white pudding supper!!

What would ANY politician know about good or bad when they are all Indifferent?
-
Buttery = Strawberry/Raspberry jam and cheddar cheese (this is also nice on toast).
all at same time?

Pigs trotters are brill just out of the pan..
I prefer them boiled rather than oven cooked....

Yeah, not strawberry and raspberry, one or the other and cheese, basically sweet and sour!
