Hi there!
Just purchased a 2010 diesel SX model for under $17K including on roads.
This is a cheap GPS mod I made. Basically a bit of Perspex glued to the compartment above the ash tray. The compartment opens as normal.
I used the P-Plate when I leave the car to disguise it should someone want to smash my window to steal it.
Under $100 including the GPS unit.

I'm sure you'll get a heap of info on the forum if you're into doing mods on your SX. Your mod does look great and very simple. I did a mod for my GPS as well that is both cheap and effective. Have a look at the post in the link below.

Unless you decide to respond to voice commands only, it means seriously diverting your line of vision & focus down there surely?
For safetys sake think about keeping the coins elsewhere & get that Satnav up into your line of mormal vision I say... Up to you of course... just my thoughts on the subject :)

Yes, but those other things can be done with just a glance...trying to read a GPS way down there will take up much more time...... :undecided:

I'd have to disagree with you there, chemical.
Doing the three things you mentioned all involve still having your eyes on the road in some fashion and in fact they are performed as part of safe driving. Heaven forbid if we all drove without performing the three tasks you mention.
While performing these three tasks, you also maintain a fair amount of peripheral vision on the other parts of the road not in your direct line of site .eg. when momentarily checking the mirrors (rear or side) you can see what's in front of or around your vehicle.
Looking down to the location of your GPS however takes your eyes off the road both in front, beside and behind you while you are in the act of looking down. GPS use not only involves glancing at the screens, but involves interpreting the information on the display, changing settings, volume, screens etc. These tasks require that you look at the GPS unit while performing them.
While I can accept that a quick glance downwards at the GPS isn't a great risk, operating the GPS at that low level would be.
