Title: Aftermarket Diagnostics Code reader
Post by: Keith on April 12, 2012, 11:13:42
OK Chaps & ladies?  :)

Anyone know if there is a code reader available for the i30?
I usually buy one for any car I have unless I already have one.

Dont panic... the i30 is fine...  :goodjob2:
The Picanto is fine too!
However... the Mitsubishi Colt I bought may need some luvin...

So... I have established on the Colt UK Forum that I need an OBD2 reader... but it would be smart to get one that would also... read the Hy & Kia ports too!

Any ideas?

Cheers... Keith.

No the stones were pea sized... normal... just went on so long it was white over all around!

And No again... I'll have to make a point of checking that Trip of yours out.

I saw that Steve but its not what I am after so didnt apply...

I want a stand alone plug in device as I have for all the other makes we have had.

Not a laptop / i-pod / i-phone link lead with Software...  :P

That bluetooth dongle is a standalone plug in device which pairs to my Android phone - no leads required (but software is) :D

But I see where you're coming from - you want a device with the software built in

Amazon have a decent selection:

£29.99 delivered from Amazon. Bargain. So damned useful these things, especially if you can help your mates out too (or have more than one car yourself)

I cant believe that my Post in the Colt Owners Club Forum has had 10 Views & no-one would seem to know what Code reader to buy...

They are Colt owners, what can you expect?  :winker:
At least you're sensible enough to also own an i30....

Its a first car for a 25 year old New Driver, Rusty.
A better choice than the usual young 'uns cars... 206, Saxo, Corsa, Fiesta etc.

It turns out I already have a Memoscan U480 in the garage...
Both the Kia & the Hyundai have No Codes!  :goodjob:

Now I just have to see if the thing reads the Mitsubishi...

Hey guys - I read somewhere on here that the odbc plug is in the driver footwell ?  what about the diagnostics port in the enginebay above the ecu ?

The OBD socket on mine is near the drivers right knee, in/below the dash. The one in the engine bay is a mystery

Yes - guessing from reading the other threads that its for a dealer supplied diagnostic reader software uploader/updater.
