Hi M8, Great access but hard to see how that wouldn't compromise strength of vehicle?

I always wondered why car doors open the way they do.

Not advocating a solution like the one above, but wouldn't it be more logical for each door to have it's hinges towards the rear of the car, instead of the front?  That would mean the biggest gap would be right next to your legs, instead of next to your body as it is now.
