Remote control failed to lock the car two days ago but key in door worked O.K. Got home and r/c worked as normal. :confused:
Today the r/c failed again. Quick search on the forum gave some info re sticking contact in ignition barrel so I tried inserting the key and withdrawing it quickly....twice. R/c then worked O.K. :goodjob:
So it seems this previously reported fault is still present on a March 2012 build Czech i30. :mad:
It's due for 1st service in two weeks time so I won't spray silicone oil into the ignition barrel until the dealer looks at it.
What's the betting I will be told "never heard of that before"? :)

Change battery as they may say it's that but you can reply you've changed the battery

It was the first thing I did despite the fact that the indicator led was lighting up. Original battery read 3.02 volts on test.
If the dealer does claim "never heard of it" I will direct him to the forum posts to enlighten him.
Trouble is, if there has been no change to the lock specification, replacing the lock may not resolve the problem but at least I know how to rectify it if needs be.

I had my remote replace, under warranty, as the chip inside had failed.

The same thing has happened to me twice now but both times it happened in the same space in the car park at work. However after moving the car to the other side of the car park the remote worked fine. Curiously it also happened to a colleague in a different space (with a Vauxhall Meriva) but again when he moved the car his remote worked fine. I've put it down to too many radio waves bouncing about and interfering with the signal but it would be interesting to here if anyone else has suffered the same problem in their i30.
