NOTE 1 - Calculate based on an SLX Petrol price of $25490 RRP. If you bought an SX Petrol, add $4100; If you bought SX CRDi, add $1600; SLX CRDi, subtract $2900; SR, subtract $3050.
NOTE 2 - Calculate based on an AUTO. If you bought manual, add an additional $2,000 to your purchase price
NOTE 3 - If you didn't get metallic paint, add $350 to your total before voting. If you got extras like a spoiler thrown in for free - subtract their retail price (eg $500ish for a spoiler)
I don't really want to start a pissing contest (I think polls work as an anonymous survey?), I'm just interested in finding out how low a dealer can really go into their margin before they would be losing money - I haven't dealt with new car sales before, so I'm completely in the dark. Also those of you who paid Retail or think you might have gotten a better or worser deal - remember different states, country vs city, and different waiting periods (7 months!!!) will get you different discounts - and now times are getting tougher, discounts are dwindling as well. Bigger discounts can also return worse service.
Cheers.

Oz only huh

reverse engineer your pounds into dollars if you want... but I figured RRP would be different in different countries because of how far the ship travels, import tariffs for the parent company, government taxes - I'm sure there are more factors...
-
but im guessing that you could implement the same principle for o/s countries as well? like, just say that there was 1k off or 2k etc etc?
-
I wouldn't be able to handle the brain strain of calculating the differences in tariffs and taxes. :|

Manual are $2k cheaper not dearer, and SX is minus not add hehe ;)
-
Luckily I'm married to a High School Maths teacher, snow. I'm basing on the price of an Auto SLX, you have to add $2k to the price paid for Manual, to make it comparable to the Auto version. Ditto SLX vs SX.

Good Poll Rubix, I can see you put a bit of effort into making it so most can answer.

I got bored working out the answer
Lol. I love mods.

From memory, yours was delivered from a distance of nearly 2,000km, don't feel so bad...

I think I really overpaid for the car... still pissed off about it.
But then again, Dad sponsored 20k... and I traded my car in... so it's basically free. Only 1.8K out of pocket.
At least I didn't have to take the NAB 12.9% student loan!!!!! And I have decided basically to drive this car to the ground just because I hate what I paid for it so much.
-
Wow 4 people got their car for free!
I'm one of them offcourse :p but who are the other three!

yea car prices up here (infact nearly everything up here) is way dearer then down south . Isn't the price of a car supposed to be the same all over australia??? or is some tax that makes the difference? dealer delivery maybe???

Nilesh,
You have to make adjustments as per his instructions if you have a higher model... Guessing you paid about 28,000? The "onroad" costs like registration and third party etc.. also vary a bit state to state...

I got $4k off on my manual SLX (which means I voted incorrectly as I just reread the subject!). They were looking to clear out the black one I bought, so they gave me an instant AUD$2k off!
