Title: Caller I.D.
Post by: gerardryan on June 03, 2012, 23:55:59
HI Folks,
Just wondering if anyone has sorted the issue of caller I.D. on the new i30 Elite Plus?. My friends phone numbers are displayed but not their names, eventhough the are in my phonebook.

Unless there is a firmware upgrade I suspect the number display will be as good as it gets

AlanHo is pretty switched on (don't tell him I said that) for an Old Fella (don't tell him I said that either)  and he can only get the numbers to show ... Although come to think of it Bumpkin might be getting names up on his iX20 from something he said previously :undecided:

Yep, I get the names on my ix20 with the iPhone 3GS, I think (but will check) that my mate also gets the names on his ix35 with the 4S.

Can I ask how your names are stored on the phone, my voice control wants surname/first name as the input method, it could be that the car system does not like things which are not in that format ie Mum, Dad, Steve etc

Hi Bumpkin,
You are right..I think.. We I entered and new number and name on my iphone 4 and dowmlaoded it to thecar address book and the callers name dipalyed when he called me,,,yippee...it would seem its the old names which were copied onto the iphone sim card are not dispalying so its probably a difeeenct format like you said..I'm happy now at leasze that the names do display once they are new entries on the iphone...yippee

thanks again for your reply and safe driving

I discovered that the system was quite happy with any format of  name from Android, but was more specific with the iPhone.  The iPhone also had gremlins when syncing names between the sim and Outlook so I edited all my sim numbers to the format that Outlook preferred and found that the Hyundai system was happier also.
