We also visited Bannockburn Heritage Centre on our Easter break, not much to show, it is afterall just a battle site.
I think however that this highlights how the Scottish people actually think of themselves, both now and in the past. Whilst Culloden is almost a celebration of that particular battle where we were "bravely beaten" by the English, Bannockburn in contrast is a vastly understated place, despite it being the place where we thumped the English into the middle of the following week, prompting the line in Flower of Scotland "Proud Edwards Army, And sent them homewards, tae think again".
