Title: LED Parking Lights
Post by: rustynutz on June 18, 2012, 13:16:14
I recently bought some replacement parking light LED's.....

I chose them in white as I didn't want my baby to look like a xmas tree.... :D

This photo shows the difference between the original globe (on right) and the LED replacement.

And here's the finished article....

At this stage I don't think I'll bother installing the numberplate LED's..... :undecided:

I wouldn't bother with the numberplate lights either.

BTW, cars are required by the government to display a numberplate registration. If the car is unregistered they request return of the plates. If the plate is dirty and unreadable it is considered an offence and the registered owner can be fined. Shouldn't the government be required to clean their own property & pay any fines

Actually, that looks like the sort I used in the parkers....  :undecided:

The other ones have just 4 led's on the face....

Is there a point in fitting leds to the parking lights?

I've never used  lights when parking and use always dipped/main beam whenever the car is moving.

I dunno, I guess it's just personal taste.....

But, I do like the parking lights being a similar colour to the low beams as seen in my second pic...

Btw baradeur, aren't your parkers also on when you're using the headlights just like here in OZ?  :undecided:

So what bulbs do you have in the dipped beams 'cos they don't seem to be the O.E. version?

Using led dipped beam bulbs would be illegal in the U.K. as the lamp would no longer conform to the requirements.

Parking lights work the same here as in Oz.

I have Osram Night Breaker Plus globes in both high & low beam lights.... :)

Just as an aside, parking lights in OZ must comply with Australian Design Rule 13/00...which stipulates that they must be white so don't be tempted to go for the christmas tree look..... :)

What size of LEDs actually fit the parking lights? I added a pair to a headlight bulbs order and they wouldn't fit through the hole. These ones had a single LED on the front and 1 on each of its 4 sides.

Used them on my number plate instead....

^-- yep, those are what I have (T10 size)

I too bought a set that was too wide to fit thru the hole. Put those on the RAV4

Thanks guys - I'm sure the ones I had were a similar design! Having had a look around on Fleabay I've ordered a normal set of bulbs (Xenon white) which really should fit. Having checked I appear to have blown/disconnected one of my existing sidelights, so if I have to remove the light clusters again I might as well get some bulbs in which match my new 120% Ring Automotive dipped bulbs.

Also ordered is a nice fat LED to go in the boot. Am also looking at interior LEDs and popped the front map light off for a look. Not sure I've got it back on properly as it doesn't seem to switch on and off easily when you press it. How do you get these on properly....?
