Very nice, Misha..... :goodjob:
Must say though, I'm not a fan of the red dash display.... :undecided:

thank you.
I find it nice: driving is more smooth, especially when passing obstacles (dents, tram rails etc); it seems to provide more space for driver; dashboard seems huge; side pockets in trunk (first aid, fire extinguisher and warning triangle are secured safely in one of them)
Very nice, Misha..... :goodjob:
Must say though, I'm not a fan of the red dash display.... :undecided:
me neither.

Looks great.
3 sides look just like the new i30. Only the grill, 4th side, gives it away.
Oh and the Cee'd badge on the back
ps noticed someone was tryimg to take a sneak picture behind you :snigger:

Looks great Misha
The Kia dash styling looks a bit more old fashioned and I am not so keen on the red either .. but everything else is excellent (I guess it is basically a GD i30 with a slightly different body...)
I am a bit jealous, I love new cars.. :happydance:
-
That's a very busy steering wheel you've go there. Make sure to keep your eyes on the road, when driving, ESPECIALLY IN RUSSIA.
Who's that skinny guy in the reflection in pic no 5
Enjoy :goodjob2:

My car is in a shop now where it is being equipped with anti-theft devices, meanwhile I bought a kit of 4 rubber mats in the morning , next thing in a list is cargo net.

Does it not come with immobiliser etc?
Is theft of cars a problem where you are?

it does, but a single immobilizer is not enough, not in Russia.
Have just come back from a shop: alarm system and locks installed

My i30 has Deadlocks on all the doors as standard.
don't know what it is.
I have got two locks installed: a lock of hood and a lock of auto-transmission and both are controlled by alarm system; moreover the alarm system is equipped with integrated immobilizer, there are also two wireless electronic chips - when a chip is in a car (in a pocket of my bag, for example), immobilizer lets engine run, but when a chip is not present - immobilizer turns engine off within a few minutes after engine start up, unless a PIN code is entered by means of hidden two position button.
-
So sad that all this extra anti theft systems is necessary.. :disapp:
Congrats on your new car, Misha, looks good. :goodjob:
I do like the look of the interior/dashboard.

Have just noticed that a width of trunk along rear seats seems narrower, than in my i30.
A petrol's consumption has dropped from 21 l/100km to 8.3 l/100km and keeps on falling.
I have purchased a cargo net today, a universal one, that cost me about 10 USD so two tool boxes are secured now along with screen washing fluid.

Wow the car really looks great. Inside and out - really "classy".
Question:
1. Which engine did you go for ? I guess 1.6 petrol, but which one? 120hp or 136hp GDI one?
2. Why the auto-transmission version? Just wondering, nothing special. I think there are only 10% of "Auto" i30's/Ceed's over here. Wait..no, it's definitely less then 10%...

1. the engine is 129hp
2. I have got used to cars with automatic transmission, I can hardly put up with a manual one nowadays (I'm spoiled with comfort)

Hooray, another convert :happydance:

Okay I see. Nothing wrong with "auto", I was just wondering. Also not used of seeing auto transmission in smaller cars, as they are usually not fitted in them over here.
Anyways, wish u a lot of pleasant km's with the car! I'm sure you'll love it. My uncle has the old Ceed and just checked the clock today on his.. 111.765 km and still working great.

I wonder if any of members has experienced this: when the emergency lights are on while engine is running, they can not be switched off until the latter is shut down?

Do you mean the 4 indicators are flashing i.e you have activated the button with the red triangle..

The emergency flashers can be switched on and off with the engine running on my new 2012 i30.

Looks good Misha. :goodjob: :goodjob:
Think the steering wheel has the same functions as my i40??
Audio controls on left arm, with phone controls down left side of lower spine, cruise control and speed limiter controls on right arm with trip and display controls down the right side of lower spine. It actually all works very well, very intuitive :goodjob:

yes, it is totally similar to your one I reckon.
Mine, actually, has one more feature in addition - on the right hand side, the button which is situated on the left from Cancel Button - it changes the steering wheel force: Comfort, Sport and Normal (before setting off I had supposed to test if Sport is more preferable for the high speeds as it is said to be, but I forgot :()
-
I saw one of these parked up the other day and despite my initial reservations over the styling I now think its a cracking looking car :goodjob:
-
Misha - you need to make a "lens hood" for your car-cam. The reflections of the dashboard are spoiling the pictures.
Are you able to buy Toshiba HD TV's in Russia in order to obtain the recommended styrofoam blocks?

Did you used to be an undertaker Misha... :whistler: Mind you it is well finished underneath... :goodjob:
The dash is nicer than my first impression... It is a lovely motor (as our treasured UK members would say) :happydance:
Do you like the way I managed to get on so many members good sides in the one sentence? :snigger:

Are they your nuts in a bag hanging on the dash? :undecided:

All those photos of the underside of the car encouraged me to have a grovel under my new i30. I can confirm the they are so far as I can see absolutely identical. All that plastic streamlining under the car is quite impressive. I suppose it makes quite a difference to the air resistance (CD).

Is it just me or have the photos disappeared?

Cee'd is a little brother of i30 :)
-
So far, so good.
I have had 1600 km on clock and the car hasn't let me down yet, though there have been some minor misunderstandings (here I mean emergency lights, which I haven't fixed up yet, but I'm going to sort it out as soon as I'm in service to install parking sensors).
Yesterday in the afternoon I discovered a level of anti-freeze had lowered to a half-full (it had been almost full two days before, when I checked it while in Finland), so I replenished it today in the morning (I had to fill a tank of my i30 twice for 2 years).
Black color as well as any dark one is not an ideal for Russian and Saint-Petersburg's climate in particular as a slight dust is seen, so more visits to a car wash.
It is time set money aside for a set of winter wheels: tires + rims, I reckon I would need 1200 USD roughly, depends on size and brand.
I think to begin filling my car with 95 petrol isntead of 92 I am used to driving on now: a petrol is deemed to have lower consumption and better performance, those its an average price per liter is 1 USD here
-
Misha, great that all is going well and that you're happy with it.
I think as far as the higher octane fuel goes, my opinion is that it is beneficial if used on a regular basis, although no doubt others may think differently.
My daughter has done over 3,000 kms in her new Mazda 3 now, all on Premium ULP (98 octane) and she is getting 7.5 l/100 kms in mixed driving when the official figure is 7.8 so she's happy with that.
-
My daughter has done over 3,000 kms in her new Mazda 3 now, all on Premium ULP (98 octane)
what is its price there?
a cost of 98 petrol in Russia varies from 35 rub (1.2 USD roughly) to 48 rub (1.2 Euro roughly)
95 - 29 rub to 32 rub
-
These are our prices today in Perth metro:

This is all very interesting, high octane fuels have a slower burning rate, to provide a longer heating process in the cylinder and consequently, more power. Modern engines classified as "unleaded" engines are supposed to be designed to run on standard unleaded fuel, so apart from eliminating toxic lead, we still have a standard / super fuel situation, which suits the petrol companies just fine. :fum:
-
is there the prices per one liter? :undecided:
I wonder how much does any of you spend on petrol per month?
I have 4 fuelings per month on average, each costs me 800 rub roughly (26 USD): I typically fill 30-35 liters and have hardly driven with an empty tank (I tend to fill my tank up as soon as a niddle approaches one quarter)
-
Yes, they are shown in cents so 150.00 = $1.50.
I was doing 1,000 kms per week but now I only do about 1,000 kms per fortnight so my fuel costs have halved.

well I didn't realize any exists before I came across an owner's review of new Cee'd, who had installed them and taken photos. I liked an idea and ordered 4 of them; each cost me 63 rub (2 USD roughly).

postage fee from Russia to Australia:
EMS - 2505 rub (1kg) which is 80 USD
air mail - 1063 rub, which is 33.5 USD
so a postage from USA to Australia is cheaper :undecided:

Get the ones from Korea, they have free postage... :)

I also decided to see if it was easy to change air and cabin filters and it turned out to be easier than it was in Hyundai i30
here one may see side restrainers, which proved to be removed and installed easy as compared with i30's ones

having removed restrainers and lowered a compartment we have an access to cabin filter's cover

Suggest you connect an audio buzzer to the plug, then selectively remove& replace fuses 1 at a time until you find which one stops the buzzer.

yep, this thought had come to my mind, but it was late as I had placed lining back, so - next time, when I have a power socket

yes, those things are tools for dismantling purposes, such as dash board removal etc so it enables to avoid unnecessary scratches, cuts and so on (it cost me 5 Euro)

I don't know :undecided:
On my i30, when I turn the key to ignition, the little screen (which shows when a door is open) briefly shows my brake lights, before they disappear; that's there to test the bulbs.
Didn't your i30 have that?
I just thought that maybe your cee'd might have that feature in a higher model, but the wiring is there anyway.

no, I didn't have it on my i30 :undecided:
I don't think any higher Cee'd model has this feature too, at least there is no info about it in a manual
That plug's wire length is too shot for brake lights

True, but it's just a connector, so it's meant to join up with something going further along.
It was just a thought.

Not sure, but I think it lights to test the instrument warning light only, not the rear brake lights

by the way I have got two mishaps happened to my car, all of them caused by foreign objects flew from the other vehicles
here is a place where a stone hit my windscreen

Are you sure it's the glovebox area? Rattles can be deceiving.
You should get someone else to drive your car while you are a passenger and see if it seems to come from the same place.

one thing I'm sure that rattle comes from right hand side.
I know new i30 has got the same problem, so has any one of new owner managed to sort it out?
Oh, no, I won't let any one to drive my car as if the worse happens I won't have anything from my insurance company

Put something soft around the cables.
These cables can create very much rattle if they touch something during driving.
Oh, no, I won't let any one to drive my car as if the worse happens I won't have anything from my insurance company
Why are you not allowed to let anyone else drive your car..
My insurance covers all accidents no matter who drives the car, only thing is I get double excess if driver is under the age of 26.
-
Same here. We can nominate drivers but if a non-disclosed driver drives the car and an accident happens then additional excesses would apply.
-

that is because there is only one name in my insurance paper - mine, so no one else is to drive my car

I did manage to complete my affair with protective mash - I installed it at last

Hey! Love the wheels too. Which winter tires have you mounted on it? I see they have studs on. I also replaced my tires to winter ones (of course no studs), as we had some snow few days ago and the temps are mostly around 0°C.
Any pictures of the vehicle from the side? We can barely see the wheels :D

Hi, Accim.
The winter tires are Continental ContiIce Contact and as you have spotted they have the studs.
I'll take a shot once I wash my car, cause due to filthy weather which we have had now for two weeks my car is really dirty, so are the rims

Your car looks quite sleek :goodjob:

no, I can use it with the window up only (it sticks to a glass with a suction cap)

Oh, I see.
Wouldn't that be a pain (not a pane :)) not being able to open your window though without pulling it off first?
-
Oh, I see.
Wouldn't that be a pain (not a pane :)) not being able to open your window though without pulling it off first?
well, I can lower the glass with a mirror installed, but up to a certain level, actually - a gap is sufficient to pass a passport to an immigration officer upon crossing a border.

Fairy Nuff. (fair enough). :)
-
Could you make a "mod" and install it on that small glass below/behind?
You know..using something like a phone holder or something, that has longer and flexible "rod" and installing the mirror on that? Something like this (http://s4.bolha.si/3/image/118007/120887/Nosilec-za-telefon_50445bfdf1353.jpg) and placing the mirror inside? But you would need to make it better-looking :)
And as for the wheels. I really like how they look on the car. Nice pick!
And about the Ceed Wagon. Looks great. They've been selling them here also for some time now and I keep seeing one in the morning when I go to work.
-

Thanks for the hint, Accim :goodjob2:, I will think it over, but I'm afraid a length of a flexible pole is too short
-
I like the idea of the small window just ahead of the side mirror, it might relieve some of the blind spot that our previous 2011 Elantra Limited and our present 2013 GT (I30) has.

I had seen this car (or that might have been another one) before for a couple of times, but it had been parked in different places.
One can see how much snow we have got recently (by the time I took that shot I had cleaned my car off)

If you have white powdery stuff over here, you get arrested.

Is it the same Model (level) as yours? Looks a bit like the same colour too :goodjob:

it is a common bulb, produced by Osram, the one, that came with the car, perhaps phone's camera makes it look more white

yes it is, the colour seems similar to mine too, but I didn't pay much attention to it yesterday, so I can't say that for sure.

I think db was talking about some other white substances
Great car btw and so much snow. We got the first real shipment of snow yesterday/today. Love it.

It has been snowing for days here, so everything is covered with a thin layer of snow, even the roads, which are supposed to be cleaned constantly in such circumstances.

You would need to have a low insurance excess to make it worth it (and it might increase next year's premium) :Pout:

I don't think I will extend my insurance for one more year due to some reasons; I tend to install a better car alarm with ability to track a car via both GPS and GPRS and to have my windows coated with special reinforcement film, which would be worth of a price of new insurance.

no problem at all :)
I wonder whether the cars in other countries are being stolen by use of code-grabbers as it happens here (one of the easiest way, I suppose, but the car alarms with dialog-codes are said to be impregnable in relation to what I mentioned before; and this kind of car alarm is installed in my Cee'd now)?

I think not.
Our thieves are (generally) less sophisticated.
They used to steal the cars directly when they were easy to steal.
Now, we have seen an increase in the number of home invasions to steal the keys of specially selected cars.

I have passed my first service today (14650km on clock).
The total price was 6000rub (200 USD) with discounts, where (discounts are not deducted):

This question I will have to figure out next, when time comes :D
Good stuff Misha, shame you have to be so security conscious :undecided:
someone finds it an easy money, when the plates are stolen from a car and an onwer is requested money for them to be returned afterwards - hijacking, eh?
-
I used to like anti-theft bolts on my plates until I had to take them off one day.
I didn't like them any more.
