Title: The petrol pump ‘lucky dip’: Motorists can get 6p-a-litre windfall because some
Post by: eye30 on August 09, 2012, 19:30:50

UK Report     But is this happening where you live???

=======================

Some drivers have been getting a 'lucky dip' when filling up with petrol, with some pumps supplying more fuel than the counter indicates, the AA has said.
Some fortunate motorists have been getting as much as 4.4 per cent more petrol than shown on the pump, the AA revealed.
This is effectively a 6p-a-litre gift to drivers at a time when fuel prices are extremely high.

Don't believe it.  The report is very short on detail and it was probably just one pump that was so inaccurate that it was 4% out.

Pumps are checked regularly as a legal requirement  and no forecourt operator will give fuel away with the  profit margins they work on.
