about 4months ago, i bought i30 diesel in dealer shop in Ballaret VIC. money is near 12000 dollar.
and now i drove 12,000km.(during 4months)
and i changed oil filter, car speaker, and bulb. i like change something.... :happydance:
but at that time i have doubt about my car.. because i can see old mud(?)
and afew days ago, i opened the door for watching something..
and!! :happydance:
i saw many old mud(?) ..
um.... um...
i have to change the car! :Shocked:
but i need car now..(this car is very good..for long drive 5.1liters to 100km 110km/h, and until now the car haven't any problem)
about 5~6 months later?? so.. when i claim the car when i bought the car after 1year)
could i refund my money from dealer shop?? or change to another car??
please help me!!!!

is it dry mud,or just dirt from being driven on very dusty roads. :idea:

Not sure what your postition is in law... I guess you'd have to PROVE it was flood damaged and not just mud sticking after driving the car on muddy roads....

That's really sad, you must be very disappointed.
There should be a law against selling cars like that, there are laws for everything else nowadays. Flood damaged cars should be dismantled, they are not totally useless. Panels, glass etc are ok to be reused but electric wiring, electric motors etc should be scrapped. :fum:

To my untrained eye it looks more like dust build up from driving on dirt roads (you did get it from country Victoria). Flood damage would show more on the carpet and plastics and be a definite line where the flood came up to. If in doubt, get an independent mechanic to look over it (not a friend as they generally say what you are saying, just in a different voice).

I'm with slim on this,water damage would be so obvious and expensive to fix. :idea:

I'm confident that flood/water damaged cars are dismantled and not repaired 84,its way too expensive and risky because of all the electronic parts. ;)

Can't Believe how dirty that is but Jamie (Fatboy) could be right ..
If you are not having any problems with the car it might be best to live with it (whatever the verdict)
You could bail out and lose $$$ then get another car that turns out to be a lemon :undecided:

If it was flood damage and insured, it would have been written off by the insurance compamy which means it is then on the licence database as "write-off, not to be licenced).
If the car was bought from a dealer you would have a claim IMO if it did indeed turn out to be water damage, but it may not be and I agree with the others that you need to get it checked by an independent authority (such as the RAC or equivalent in your state) who would also be able to assist you if any further action was warranted anyway.

As previously stated if the car was a flood car, it would be on the register and the Vin numbers removed.
If the vehicle has its vin numbers then it is safe to say that the chassis has not been written off.

In UK we have a database and for a small fee you can get the cars history.
Is such available in Oz?

hak yeong,just my two bobs worth,I agree with the other,all flood damaged vehicles are scrapped,for the very reason of the electrics being rendered useless,just from the two photo's you have shown,this looks far more like simple dust build up from continuos use on dirt roads,many moons ago,when my Brother in law and I had a bunky car yard,we used to buy hundreds of vehicles from mine sites,as they where mostly low kilometre,late model vehicles and they where dirt cheap for us to buy,as most of the general public would not want them,when they first come off the mine sites,surprising what an excellent car detailer can do and as dealers we did not have to divulge to the buyer where the vehicle came from,but no matter how good your detailer,unless you totally stripped the car,of all internal panels and parts,you never get rid of all the red dirt that used to get into every nook and kranny, I strongly suspect from your post,your pictures,your car has spent a lot of it's early life on rural dirt roads,that does not mean there is anything wrong with it,other than it's dirty internal panels.

Whilst I agree with all the above, there IS a very common way in which flood damaged vehicles can make it back onto the market.
Many such AREN'T insured, so they can be allowed to dry out and if they start, can be cleaned and sold.
The same option is available to wreckers who are offered the flooded vehicle for "parts".

Have a look at other hard to get at areas, such as behind the glove compartment where the air con filter is located.
Is that area also covered with mud residue? If not, then the stuff on the doors may just be road dust, as described by others.
