Just confirming, are all Australian i30s built in South Korea still or do we get some from their other factory?

Yep .. there is a vin checker on here somewhere

My understanding is that all Korean built GD i30's will also have the torsion beam rear end whereas i30's from Europe will have the multi link rear end... :undecided:

Then we must get the Korean ones because the Australian spec is torsion beam rear end.

My 2008 Korean built car has Multi-link... 2 more drop-links to keep an eye on... supposed to be superior handling. :goodjob:

I don't know as you would think that from an economies of scale basis it would be cheaper to have them all the same. And why change from the previous setup anyway? :undecided:
Other than to say that H/A did say the suspension has been tuned to local conditions. But this is more than tuning; it is a completely different configuration.

Good observation. I wonder if the other Korean made cars have the same configuration, for other Asian markets.

Here in the US, my 2011 has multi-link. The new 2013 GT has torsion beam. To the best of my knowledge the all come from Korea.
Not sue how the handling is different, will find out tomorrow, I am taking mine in for the 15k service and plan on getting a good look at the GT and maybe a test drive :happydance:
In my younger days I did some ralling and autocross so I love a car that handles, but most drivers over here need all the help they can get!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps surferdude would like to explain the merits / demerits of the 2 types of suspension for someone like me who has only been told that multi link is better, why :question:

I have no idea. I must admit to not paying anywhere near as much attention to the various suspension components under my car as i should have.
There may be someone else on here who can enlighten us in the short term.
Meanwhile I'll do some research. :undecided: :whistler:

I guess that multi link has the added advantage of being independent of the other wheel. It seems to me that torsion bars might be prone to breaking but if there is a torsion bar for each rear wheel, then the suspension would be independent like multi link wouldn't it :exclaim:
