Title: Dash Board Storage Mod.
Post by: Lucky Duck on August 29, 2012, 18:51:11
Hi All.
First post on here after having a good look round.
There's some excellent threads on fitting the storage compartment to the Dash top. - (Why wasn't it standard - or even an option??) - but before I go off and purchase the storage tray I have a question.
From what I can see the item is a part number 84770-2L000 XP, but in all pictures I've seen this is appended with (LHD). Is there a different part number for RHD vehicles? I notice that the centre console section with the radio, vents, switches, etc is slightly angled toward the driver.

Cheers

so it seems that you would need 84770-2L900 XP

Hi Guys,

I meant to mention. My vehicle is Czech manufacture, 2012 model year and RHD.

Meehalych - thanks for the part number info. Internet searches seem to show lots of people selling the LHD version 84770-2L000 XP, but not what appears to be the RHD version 84770-2L900 XP.
I am a little puzzled at the info in your screen shot though:
The info in column 5 not only has the LHD and RHD difference but the rest of the text is also different. Also the date info in column 4 is different, as if one superceeds the other.
Can anyone translate/confirm what it means?

If you have the new 2012 i30 you cannot fit the dash storage compartment. The dashboard is completely different to the previous model which at one time had one.

I don't understand why it wasn't standard worldwide either.  :undecided:

Hi.
The first European models had the dash board storage.
Due to the visual obstruction caused by the lid when opened, and in order to get 5 stars in the Euro NCAP (http://www.euroncap.com/home.aspx) tests, Hyundai eliminated him.
Existed as an option, it 2 years ago.

Ah, that explains why they didn't include it as standard in the Euro built cars .. Thanks :goodjob: makes sense :winker:

If that is indeed the case, it's interesting that it achieved a 5 star rating with ANCAP (http://www.ancap.com.au/home) WITH the dashboard storage...  :undecided:

Thanks Meehalych .
I'd found that post of Shambles' but when I tried the links to the photos the first couple didn't work. I stopped trying at that point. Last link still works!

Looks like I'm going to have to find me a 84770-2L900 XP !
