Title: i30 removal of plastic cover on inside of the A pillar (next to driver)
Post by: Sambo56 on September 26, 2012, 13:51:23
Hi, I want to install a handsfree car kit in an i30 SLX (Australia) and thanks to this forum the removal of the radio has been made very clear. However the microphone needs to be installed high on the windscreen and its cable needs to be routed from the radio unit up through the inside of the A pillar and onto the windscreen. Problem is that the plastic cover on the inside of the cars A pillar has a SRS airbag screw cover on it. Removal of the screw doesn't change anything and I don't want to pry it open and risk damage. Does anyone have any idea (and images) on how to safely remove the plastic cover and gain access to the inside of the right hand side A pillar which is next to the driver ?

To save removing the plastic can you squeeze along/under the plastic the wire between the glass and the plastic?
