Title: Snowed in
Post by: richie_bl on October 26, 2012, 05:20:41
My wife and I had the opportunity for several free nights at our favourite casino in Reno, Nevada. We had plans to take care of some business at the in-laws house in Grass Valley, CA on Friday 11/19 so we decided to go to Reno that Saturday(only 1.5 hours)  :happydance:
It was a beautiful trip up:

This is a view from the highway on the way of the Sierra Nevada mountins along the way.

This a view of Donner Lake at the summit(7,239 feet)

And we arrive in Reno. We really like this town better than Las Vegas, no much for the "glitz and glimmer" and a lot cheaper  :goodjob2:
We had a great time, until we woke up Monday morning and were planning to pack up and.....

What a supprise  The highways leading out were closed for a time and then required 4 wheel drive or chains. Lucky for us we had 2 more free nights and food coupons left.
So, we stayed hoping for the storm to clear, but no luck. On Tuesday the were still having the requirements. I told the wife, we were going to buy chains(the dealer said Hyundai did not reccommend) so we did, and left in a hurry,(packed the camera in the back so we don't have any photo's of the drive through the snow  :disapp: by the time we reached the chain area, the gods smiled on us  :D and opened the road  :happydance:
Was a great time overall and came home with more money than when we started.  :happydance:  :happydance: Happy to be home!
One question is has anyone had experience with chains on your 130's?

Not me.
Sounds like a good break had by all anyway.
I notice that the tint on the rear/sides of your car is dark. Did you do that or is it how it came?

Great photos Rich :goodjob:

That rear tint makes it look like a drug-dealers car

Thanks all, the tint was allready done when we got the car. It is great, keeps the sun out and the temp. down.

Over here no self respecting drug dealer would be caught in it  If it was raised up and had 21" wheels and "spinners", maybe
psssssst,  can I interest you in a case of "Geritol", give you a deal.  :snigger:

 Sorry, found out overseas postage to great  :snigger:

On a brighter not, just ordered a Thule roof rack system, they had to order the mounting kit for my Touring, so will take about a week to get.  :happydance:
Will submit photo's when installed. Also will have to clean and wax after driving through all the snow muck and mire. Took to the car wash, but will have to do by hand this weekend and get it right.
