Title: Kit or Advice to move back drivers seat
Post by: harvey on November 08, 2012, 11:07:17
Hi Guys,
I am 6ft tall,  the owner of a Hyundai I30 2008.
I  find the driver's position very cramped particurly the distance to the foot controls
Does anyone know if there is a mod, kit available to set the drivers seat back about 4" or maybe a bit more.
Another factor that concerns me is:
Is there any issues  removing the seat re air bags  or any other safety features?
Thank you for your interest and look forward to your advice
Regards

Hi Harvey and Welcome..

Are you sure you are getting your seat right back on the rungs?? We have many members taller than you up to 6'5" who have no trouble with legroom  :undecided:

Hi & Welcome to The Forum!  :goodjob:

Interesting. Do you have very long legs?

I am also >6 feet tall... 6 feet 2 inches actually, and I have a 2008 1.6 Premium.

I can easily put my seat too far back... I wonder if there is something wrong with your seat rails?

But my height is derived from a long body, not so long legs (30")

Seriously... I've never heard of this before...  :undecided:

Surferdude (Trev) is over 6' tall, Spy007 is 6'5", so was Simon (forget his user name) and quite a few others!

Sorry Harvey.. Ignore the last 6 posts.. Just a bit of fun (we try not to make a habit of it)

Maybe ask the dealer for advice  ( after 4 years and 3000+ members, can't recall this being an issue before)  :disapp:

If we ever lose our sense of fun I for one will be outa here TBH... Its one of the major +'s to being a member, along with the good quality help & support from each and every member.

No offence Harvey... its just that i30 owners have lots of time for fun cos our cars generally dont give us much to worry about lol!  :goodjob:

Harvey as Daz stated I would ask your dealer or a dealer for some advice, also check that your seat is actually going fully back on the runners,as the floor pan of the I30 has not changed in the FD series since it came out, not  too many other panels have changed either LOL,at least in the Aussie ones, also as Daz stated there are many of us here who are well over 6' tall, when I am in city traffic and doing a lot of gear changing I have to actually move my seat forward two notches,as my left leg gets sore having to stretch it out so far to get full clutch pedal travel. Hope you find your solution.

I'm also 6 feet tall - 182 cm.

If I set the seat all the way back I don't think I would be able to put the clutch to the floor.

I think I have 4 or 5 notches back in the rails before the seat is all the way back...

Can both frontseats go back to same position..

Maybe Harvey's pedals protrude half a metre from the footwell

Hi Guys,
Thanks for   your posts.
Your comments prompted me to evaluate my thinking. I get a pain in my back when seated in the car and find the most comfortable  position  is to fully elevate the seat. This not only rises it but also moves it forward,  hence the comments in my previous post. Will probably have to live with it.
Regards

Hi Harvey

Here's how my seat is positioned. At this position I still have 6 notches back before the seat is as far back as possible.

Pic taken with gearlever in neutral. Seat is allmost as low as possible. I'm also 182 cm.

the drivers seat in my wife's automatic cw doesn't go back as far as the drivers seat in my manual hatch does,I'm not sure if the automatic hatch has the same problem.
