Title: Dodgy Mods on Dazzler's new car
Post by: Dazzler on November 10, 2012, 03:34:15
Well the Stitch on Steering wheel cover (mark 2 version) is not so dodgy .. (better than the 1st one anyway)

Here is the 1st one as a comparison

But the Pretend Shark Fin Antenna needs to be Black or Body Colour I think  :whistler: (only sitting there)

Steering wheel looks good and I agree - the shark fin needs to be painted. I reckon body colour. Or black.
Or you could stick it on the back of your wetsut for when you go swimming.  :D

That is quite appropriate (I do have neoprene seat covers)  :goodjob:

I might spray it black (cheaper option as body colour spray will cost me $25)

That would be a talking point.
"Would you like to come back to my car and see my fin?"

I hate to say this Daz, but I think the "Dodgy" one looks better!

Oh, and wont that shark fin thingy create extra drag and increase your fuel consumption?  :whistler:

I think "in the flesh" the newer one looks more like the factory one .. Made of proper leather. The first one was sort of leather look vinyl I think. I'm hoping the new one will settle in time.. :undecided:

Don't think the fin will cause drag .. still in two minds whether to use it. (I've sprayed it black - will take another photo when it dries)

Maybe it's just the angle the pic was taken or something?
Anyhow, doesn't matter, as long as you're happy with it, that's the main thing.... :goodjob:

Btw, what the hell are you doing playing with your car, surely you had gardening to do or something?  :p

He's got a sore foot from twisting his ankle in a hole (which he dug) in the garden. Haven't you been paying attention Rusty

Unfortunately Dazz, I would have sprayed it the car colour, not black, sorry.  :(

If you must have an appendage on the car - then spray it body colour - not your body colour but the colour of the car body... :whistler:

I am happy with the new cover but looking at the (now black) shark fin, I think I'll give it a miss  :whistler:

P.S. I spent over an  hour spraying a bank behind our house and other areas with "round up"

Got some whipper snippering to do later today  :fum:

Ok, so now I've done my last mod (except for the slimline weather shields which are due to arrive early next month)

These stainless sill plates look a lot better than the plastic ones they replaced.. (My old hybrid had stainless Hybrid ones but they would have cost 5 or 6 times as much to source) only $29 a set for these..

Before..

after..

Yes they are .. They came with 3M tape on the back. Seemed to sit better over the existing black panels (than replacing them) and I wasn't confident the tape would hold very well to textured plastic, so I used some liquid nails as well

Showed my M8 who has the tricked up skoda and he wants some for his wife's Honda Accord (we found some on the net)  :goodjob:

I can still take the whole lot off. The black originals I glued the new sills to are held on with plastic clips (3 on the front and 2 on the back)  :winker:

Ok with a bit of encouragement from Phil AKA 847563 I colour coded my $3 ebay "shark Fin Antenna" ...

Pretty good match colour wise.. will see how I feel about it going forward.. Does look heaps better the same colour as the car. Note the slimline weathershields are now on. They were part of the deal but took over 2 months to come.

Think I've now FINished modding the car  :snigger:
