Any members here have any knowledge of replacing the convex mirrors (GD) with normal mirror glass?
Not happy with convex at all :( would like to replace them.
-
How long have you had them?
When I first got mine it took some getting used to but now it's second nature judging distances with them.

Hi,
Only had i30 since 5th July, but with work & can drive another 3 vans & I find it annoying when I had to get used to the different mirrors.

Fairy Nuff.
It would make it difficult changing from car to car.
I'm sorry I can't assist with your question but someone will, I'm sure.

Hi Neville
Have you tried a larger glazier? They may be able to cut you one?
I will see if any on ebay for you too :goodjob:
Try asking these guys if they can do the GD model...

Hi - just joined this forum and realise this is an old post, but recently dealt with a mirror issue for an old Astra.
I contacted these guys in QLD sales@mirrors4cars.com.au and they make mirrors to suit all cars. Cost seems reasonable too compared to dealer products, at least it was for Holden.
I had a mirror glass on the Astra slide right off the backing plate in the summer heat while I was driving! I didn't end up buying from mirrors4cars, and instead made my own from 3mm mirror glass, a $5 glass cutting tool, and a hell of a lot of sanding, and it reasonably fits my Astra. But Pete from mirrors4cars was very helpful to me even though he knew I wasn't going to buy from him unless I botched my DIY job. I wouldn't hesitate to call him if I needed another mirror, or if I can't get used to those damn convex mirrors in my new i30.

Hi All,

OK Guys an update...
Watched the video instructions, went out & put them in action. managed to get existing glass off OK.
Then the  moment - existing mirrors are heated, replacement glass isn't.
Put it back together for more research.

 Bu**er
Can they be stuck to existing mirrors with double sided tape? Heat might transfer from old to new glass.
How often would you need the heated mirrors in Sydney? :winker:
