Title: Car stops even though there is fuel on board??
Post by: Marzipan on November 29, 2012, 10:56:35

Something really weird happened whilst I was driving my i30, it suddenly stopped without warning and would not restart.  I was not impressed and extremely lucky that I was only a few metres away from a BP station and going downhill.  just wondering if this has happened to anyone else in the forum. Puzzled hope one of you great guys out there maybe able to shed some light. :( : :needhelp:

Hi... never heard of that but for the Techy types it will help if you can add the fuel type, model and age of the car?

Is it under Warranty still & is it still not starting?

Sorry to hear that  :undecided: Bit hard to diagnose without having the car in our presence though..

Did any lights illuminate on the dash? Any strange noises? Any Smoke or a strange smell?

Maybe a fuel filter blockage (if you haven't just run out)  :undecided: or some cable may have come undone under the bonnet ..ECU may have shut the motor down due to some other failure it has detected

Thanks Dazzler - it is funny that this has happened since the car was serviced about two weeks ago, the only light that came up on the dash was a red light that flashed, once had placed some more diesel into the tank she restarted and it had not happened since, as I said this is really weird  there was plenty of fuel left. Once again thank you for your advice.   :thanx:

Do you know what the red light related to?

The fuel filter light is red......

I'll bet the fuel filter was replaced at the service Rusty. Assembled NQR and a seal leaking or blockage perhaps? If it wasn't replaced, then water in it.

Take it back.
