We just had a very enjoyable 48 hour visit from Rusty Nutz (Russell) from Gippsland Victoria :happydance:
He arrived at our place in Devonport at about 5.30PM Friday and headed back to his Brother's place in Hobart at about 5.30 PM Sunday.
We did perhaps 500 kms of touring in that time taking him to Shearwater/Port Sorell/Hawley, Latrobe, Sheffield, Smithton, Wynyard etc.. and the highlight, a walk up and around the Nut at Stanley ....
I think Rusty would agree the Hybrid performed beautifully and for some reason gave me some amazing economy results often creeping down to low fives and even better in some cases :happydance:

The walk up to it if you don't take the chairlift is an almost 45 degree climb :sweating: (We decided the exercise would do us good.. the walk around the top of the nut is another 2 Kilometres .. it seemed longer

Thanks for a great weekend, Daz & Trish!
You both went above and beyond in your efforts to make me feel welcome and I really appreciated your generosity and friendship.... :goodjob2: :goodjob:
For those that don't know, I'm actually over in Tasmania to offer support and to help my brother who has had both legs amputated and so will be required to move to a more wheelchair friendly home.
I've been feeling overwhelmed by it all and this weekend was just what I needed before I get back to the job of trying to pack his stuff up.
Anyhow......
While I've been to Tasmania many times in the last 20 years I've never managed to explore this part of Tassie. Other than a brief look at Devonport, I've usually been on a mission to get to Hobart or across to the west coast so have bypassed places such as Burnie and Stanley. Well, thanks to Daz I got to see heaps and in the comfort of his Hybrid. It was certainly a bit more luxurious than the Suzuki Alto I drove up from Hobart in.
It's a beautiful area and nearly a match for South Gippsland.... :p
Ps....nice photos, mate..... :winker: :whistler:

I was thinking how much better your car would look with the shark fin attached, sprayed the right colour.
Rusty looks a bit stuffed :D

Terrific pics Dazz and I'm glad you had a good time Rusty.
It is nice being able to see the places where members live and also being able to put a face to the name as well.
In this case though, perhaps I should have just left it all in my imagination.   (Just joking ;)).

P.S. Most of those photos were Rusty's by the way :goodjob: (I took a copy for our records)
No worries Rusty.. We got on great didn't we .. more like Brothers than Internet Forum Buddies :goodjob2: :goodjob:

Well done to Trish and Dazzler for looking after Rusty so well. Having met this wonderful couple for only a short time, I felt like I knew them very well. :goodjob2:
Like Alan, I enjoy seeing photos of members catching up and where they live.
I've been luck enough to have met a lot of members since I've joined this i30 "tragics" forum and really feel when I meet them, it's more like being members of a big family than just being "forum buddies", as Dazzler mentioned.
BTW, don't forget to look me up next time you come to sunny Queensland, Rusty. I'll try (along with Mrs UM) to make your stay as welcoming as Trish and Dazzler did. (If you're lucky, I'll even wear my little red number for you) :faint: :scared:

Thanks Terry... :goodjob:
I did think about trying to catch up with you but I knew you were pretty busy at the time with your courses and family stuff.
Actually, if I had've thought you'd be wearing your little red number I may have had a change of heart...
Cheers :)

No worries, mate. There's always a next time. My study is finished :D and it looks like FIL might not make Christmas. :(

Sorry to hear that, mate.....and i'm sorry to hear about your FIL, fingers crossed he holds out until after Xmas, at least...

Nice pics of Tasweiga. NOW, did Dazzler have to kip in his new Toyota or did Rusty give up his matrimonial boudoir.
The plot thickens.
Great that you all had a great weekend anyway.
