have you had a brake light switch on your i30 replaced? :winker: if so could you please post the build date of the car and how many times its been replaced. apparently this fault has only occurred and affected cars from 8/2011. in my opinion this is a contradiction of the facts,my wife's car has had 2 replaced and its a 2009 built car. :disapp: :disapp:

I must keep an eye on Trish's MY11 CW (no probs so far - touch wood)
-
I'm touching my wood too, but so far no problems.
-
September 2008 - replaced once. Most obvious symptoms - CC won't set and brake lights fail to light. Mine was intermittant.

Build date 08/09.
Now on 3rd Brake Light Switch

Same date as mine give or take a week, I'm still on the original switch, with no sign of failure yet.

No.
-
Yep, had one replaced in March .
-
04/10 Diesel CW replaced yesterday (20/12).
If I wasn't a member, I wouldn't have known about the intermittent fault, hence would be blissfully unaware. One of two things could have happened, it could have gotten worse, or not.
Either way, not my money, so I got it fixed. I didn't get the usual dealer rubbish about checking it out and if they can't find a fault etc, so I'm guessing there on to it. Or when someone rings up and says I'm getting this intermittent fault, and I need to book in to get the break light switch replaced, they know your on to them, so don't argue.
Either way.....

Mine's a late 2009. Is this related to the CC not coming on when first starting out and needing to touch the brake pedal to have it come good?
If so, I get that sometimes. It hasn't bothered me a great deal but if this is definitely attributable to the switch, I'll take the fix.

If your Stability control light comes on for no reason you may have an issue.

No ESC lamp lighting up but I'll watch more closely just in case. Thanks, Beerman.

It's the ESP light on the dash. If it comes on it'll stay on until you turn the car off and restart it.

In that case, it's no big deal but I'll know if it starts happening, thanks to you and the forum.

That is normal .. Built in safety check to make sure the brakes are working before cruise will engage :winker:

Yeap, once, a few months ago (mod. 7/2009)

notice the build dates are well before the Hyundai mentioned recall dates. :disapp:

Yep. Mine's 2009 and it needs to be done. I 've spoken to the dealer about it. No problem - whenever I'm ready.

I have the brake switch problem (delay lights) on my i30 mod 10/2009, when i called to Hyundai service, they were like fallen from MARS. I found this on internet

For free, or you paid for it?
