New to the forum, so hello to you all. I have had my i30 1.6 CRDi since October and have been really impressed with my purchase. Slight problem which I may not be able to investigate til post Christmas. On starting my car in the drive and releasing the handbrake my car seems to stick. When I accelerate and hit biting point on the clutch the brakes free themselves with a large clunk like they have been stuck together. Bit worried but doesn't re occur again. Seems to happen first thing in the day. Welcome any feedback and thanks in advance. Jim

Hi Jim and Welcome .. If you added your location it would help others to comment on any problems etc.. you may have..
As an Admin I can work out you are in the UK .. I suspect the brake issue is related to the cold weather making something stick.. be intereted to seewhat others think (particularly others that live in your area)

I know all about that - happens most days in our current climate.
It's known in the trade as SBSWIBSW.
Sticky Brake Syndrome When Its Been Shitty Weather
Welcome to my world, Jim :D

Hi Jim
Welcome to the forum..
Agree with Shambles, it happens now and then no matter what brand of car you have.

Thanks for prompt responses! I live in Scotland, forgive me not added much to profile as yet. I am reassured that this may well be weather related then- poor weather at that. Cheers for the welcome.

My driveway is on a slight upwards incline - I normally start my car and let her roll backwards out of the drive.
This morning, after two days of not using her, I found my wheels stuck, just as you described. However - and I do this quite often - I have much fun and merriment freeing the car by rocking her left and right, until I hear the brakes free up, then she starts rolling backwards. Makes me feel like Superman ;)

Hi Jim
It is not only shitty weather which will cause this, washing the car with the handbrake on and leaving it overnight will do the same thing.
