Have yet to hear of an i30 failing any MOT. I've had 2 so far with greenies all down the checklist on both.

Well it failed on Headlight Aim to Low and to far out, they adjusted them and it then passed, and for the pleasure of adjusting them they charged me £14 plus VAT and they wonder why car dealers have a bad reputation. Driving tonight I can see zilch difference in the headlight aim and track !!!

It's a strange licensing/testing system.
It seems to me there is a distinct conflict of interest there and room for corruption.

We don't have MOT here in Tassie. but it has been mentioned on here before that lifting the i30's lights a bit may improve the throw  :cool:

Could the headlight level adjuster being say on the low have been the cause?


ps Could this be a warranty claim in that it wasn't correct from day 1....  as headlight aim shouldn't move unless an accident or actually adjusted post delivery..

It's a common fault on the MOT's here as well.

On the i30, as well as many other cars, you have to remove the headlight to replace the bulb. Removing the headlight assembly will change the position of the headlight, thus adjusting the light is necessary each time.

Never had that problem in all the times I've removed my i30's headlight assemblies...    :undecided:
