Title: Arnold Clark servicing on 1.6 CRDi blue drive 1.5k late
Post by: bairdyboy1980 on February 11, 2013, 17:50:26
Hi Everyone!

First post so be gentle!! Put down a £100 deposit on a 2012 1.6 CRDi blue drive active 5DR (2nd generation if that helps??) in a non-Hyundai-dealer Arnold Clark. Its done 11.5k miles  (reg date is April 2012) and not bee serviced yet.

I am worried about the servicing as the Arnold Clark guy said they would service before i get it. But surely its overdue a service as its due one at 10k? If they service it now, will i have problems with the rest of the warranty because its effectively being serviced 1.5k miles late????

Also i have read about the perforation service also that needs done (£42 apparently). I take it only Hyundai can do this? What do they do in this check?

Should i push the Arnold Clark to get it all serviced at a Hyundai dealer??

Hope someone can help!!

Hi Bairdyboy - welcome to the forum :)

Firstly, AC can do the servicing without issue as long as they use the same spec components/consumables that a Hy deal would use, or higher spec even. Knowing the AC group that's exactly what they'd do, too.

Next, the service intervals for these CRDis seem to wander around a bit. My 2008 model has 12.5k intervals, others of that era had 10k intervals. Something in the back of my mind says that the modern engines can go to 20k before a service is required; someone in the UK with a better memory should know for sure, but do have a ganders at this thread (https://i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=19507).

The perforation check is just a skimp over the bodywork, in my experience. Not sure if AC are qualified for that or not - that kinda makes me useless really.

I'll move your query over to our servicing section... :)

Hi bairdyboy1980

Welcome to the forum.

I think you can find the specific serviceinterval for your car at the UK Hyundai website. If not, call Hy and give them the VIN, then they should be able to tell you.

I'm pretty sure the perforation / corrosion check can only be done by Hyundai, but according to EU law, they are not allowed to charge you for an inspection they demand to maintain a warranty.

Hi Everyone!

First post so be gentle!!

We're allways gentle, until we get to know each other... :whistler:

Greetings ,

You should be alright with servicing as long as it is done as per Shambles instructions. If there are no warranty issues, the overrun should not be a major issue, as you weren't the owner. I would have it serviced in future slightly b4 it's due, so they can see that you intend to abide by their servicing requirements.

Enjoy your car  :goodjob2:

Welcome bairdyboy1980

Ask AC to check the details but I think yours may be 1st service at 20k.

Hi bairdyboy, welcome along!

Can't you request Arnold Clark to put the service to either of their two Glasgow dealerships, either Shields Road or Alexandra Parade are Hyundai AC dealerships.

Hi everyone!

After much phoning about I have found out that on the the 2nd gen, the service intervals are 20k or one year. Also it's only hyundai that can do the perforation check.

I ask asked the AC dealer if they could use a hyundai one and they said it would be serviced using their guys. Must be all about profit I suppose!

Thanks for everyone's help!

As said AC also franchise Hy so see if book stamped correctly.

ps:
are they including the body check?

Yep they are doing the body check also.

However i can't even pick the car up as it's in the hy dealers for a central locking problem! I its been there for the last 1 1/2 weeks!
