I don't know what's with me and cyclists... This one got quite bad.
What the camera doesn't show is that this idiot swerved across the three lines of St Georges terrace after riding off the walk way at warp speed (looks slow on the video compared to reality) right up to the medium strip, swerved back in the middle line, abused the silver Commodore, then proceeded to the left line.
You can see him look as I approach to pull up behind the car in the front of me, then promptly swerves in my direction. What you can't see after that is the hits my car gets for (and I quote) "swerving on him". What I don't get is that he had an empty double bus stop in the front of him and no reason to change lines, not to mention the line he wanted was already occupied by my car, but hey, how dare I...
You can't see him following me into the side street, pulling up next to me and hurling more abuse. Lucky for me he blocked my door so I couldn't get out of my car, because in all honesty I don't think I would have been able to stay cool and not smack him in the face.
Have a look, tell me if I'm off the mark here...

What a d*ckhead!

gotta love those courier cyclists, had a few run ins with em myself in the city, especially when their doing a bazillion miles an hour one the footpaths, surprising what a well manovoured coat hanger can do to them, they hit the ground real fast and real hard.
when the police question you ya just say "hey I was walking along minding my own business and pointed something out to my mate and this bloke ran into my arm, should he be riding that fast on a public footpath,he could have killed me if it was my body he ran into, luckily he only hurt my arm,can I have him charged for assualt" soon has everyone thinking and the cyclist gets the warning.

Stupid isn't the right word.
Now if you had hit when he swerved who would be deemed at fault. Yes .....you.
-
How do you work that one out, Lester? :undecided:
The rider changed lanes when unsafe to do so, surely?
I didn't see him indicate that he was changing lanes either....
-
He's lucky he didn't get the sh1t kicked out of him in King Street.
One of life's losers. ;)

It is deemed that the car driver should anticipate what other road users/pedestrians may do and be ready for any eventuality.

You didn't do anthing wrong Hati (I would have been .. :TutTut: :argh: )

I doubt very much that I would have been in any trouble should that moron swerved into me Lester. It is all about anticipation as you said. I anticipated him to keep going in his line for some time yet. Like I said he had no reason to change lines.
The more I think about this the more certain I am he was out there to get a car driver. The silver Commodore got too far away from him, so he had to release his anger at someone. Watch him again... He looks over his shoulder, must see me coming and swerves as he looks again. Just enough to be close but not hit me.
An other thing: how fast does he execute his manoeuvre?? It is like he was trying to avoid an obstacle that suddenly materialised in his path. Normal line changes do not get executed lightning fast...

What an idiot!! These types of cyclists give other cyclists bad names. I would have pointed out the dash cam to the cyclist as well, and tell them that "Today Tonight" and "A Current Affair" love that type of stuff, and maybe the police would like to see it too!!

Hati probably could've stopped when the lights changed... :p :whistler:
If he had, the incident with the rider wouldn't have happened....
But, regardless the rider is still a d*ckhead!
-
There are dickhead bike riders, just as there are dickhead car drivers.

I could have but that would have been a near emergency stop and I had cars behind me to run up my ass.
The camera doesn't give you the impression that I was doing 50 clicks when the lights turned yellow. With cars behind me the only safe option was to keep going.
-
That moron needed a stick in his front wheel spokes.
What about the danger to the public on the footpath. Could have cleaned up a child.
Too bad he didn't get a smacking for that, but he'll get one from someone soon if he keeps that up.
Which reminds me of a totally unrelated story.
A friend had been to our Festival Centre for an evening of cultured entertainment.
On leaving he was confronted in the dark, towards the car park by a "traditional land owner" demanding his wallet in no uncertain terms.
So, my friend proceeded to break his nose & left him lying, bleeding on his precious land. That's justice.

We should not forget that it was their land before we took it from them.
