Title: My first proper mod
Post by: Shambles on June 09, 2008, 17:35:19
Ok, so not quite a sports turbo jet engined mod, but it doesn't half look fine from a following drivers view  :)

Stainless steel by the way

Cheapskate,

Looks good but have you cut a piece out of the bumper?

No that's the reflection of the end of the pipe.

Yeah I'm a cheapskate. Was in Netto (cheap store) and they were flogging them with £10 off.

And no, it makes no sound difference at all. Dunno why I bothered really

Hey Shambles, i think it would hurt performance, as from what i have seen Turbo's do not like any restriction at all ( looks restrictive to me) Thumper is a very welcome and helpfull member of this sight m8. hey were have you been? don't tell me you were knighted by the Queen for her birthday m8? do we call you Sir now? LOL :o

I know Thumper. Just don't know Thimper

I see what you're saying about the restrictive exhaust-flow. Can't see that making too much difference but I'll find out in the next few days. I just fancied having something shiny showing beneath the bumper (or should that say bimper lol)

Hey Lakes mate, I think you were right.

My 45m drive to work was a pain in the rear. It was windy as well, but the motor didn't half need pushing.

Incidentally, the inside of the tube is choked with soot, after just 45 miles.

So, mod removed.

and you've got a particle filter... imagine what it would have looked like after 45m in Aus..

Well judging by the amount of soot I recovered from that tailpipe extension I fitted [and later removed] I'd say I don't have any filter at all !

No way could Fergie be pumping out 125g/Km.. more like 125Kg/Km.

Removed the mod lunchtime yesterday (took 1 minute) and left it in our work's "freebies" box, where anyone can help themselves. It wasn't there this morning. And my drive in today felt far better :)

:D  what i'll do is when i get back and find the time i'll get a system like Thumper had made up, i'll get a mate of mine to make one up and i'll weld a bung up the front of the part made up. this Bung is just like a threaded nut with a hole going into the pipe, you screw a bolt in to seal it. then when you want to do testing you screw in an expensive air sensor. just i hope my air sensor don't come out like i stuck it into a dirty drum of oil :)
Cheers

well M8, i'll try to explain it differently, see your motor needs air, and it needs fuel,  if you give it more fuel than it needs, it uses more fuel , what i want to do is put an Air Sensor in my pipe to test what the air and Fuel ratio it is runing at, so i can see if there is room for improvement and also see if i could improve economy that way. can't hurt to test and see, just i'll need the time.
